  1. I'll be staying near the Theater district in NY city. Need some help on what's going on 10/22- 10/25. Good record stores nearby? Interesting shows? Concerts? Thanks
  2. High recommendations for Lucinda Williams WHITE album. It was initially released on Rough Trade in 1988. Later re-issued by KOCH with extra cuts. The extra cuts are gems too. If you really start to dig her, she has a couple of blues albums on Smithsonian/Folkways, that were released before her WHITE album.
  3. "Have I Told You lately?" "Wavelength" "Jackie Wilson Said (I'm In Heaven When You Smile)" "Blue Money" Does anyone know the terms of the Van Morrison's contract? or Wynton's contract?
  4. Just got the Herbie Hancock CLEAR PLASTIC BOX (4-CD) Sony/Legacy set. Sealed with no trace of BMG markings! Got it thru a free deal part of the membership. So it cost me about $17 total.
  5. Deepdiscountcd.com has the RVG priced at $9.97 (no tax, free shipping ) I got the Art Blakey. The others I will probably get thru BMG later.
  6. BMG also has Dexter Gordon's Classic (2CD) Blue Note compilation set. If you do the sponsor / new member deal you get 17 for the price of 1. Averages out to $4.50 / CD.
  7. I like the solid center vs. the teeth method. The teeth seem to break after usage. Then with a digi pack design, you won't be able to replace the tray that holds the CD. So it better be strong. What I hate about the design of jewel cases is that if you drop a jewel case the CD will fall out. (and of course the hinges break) The jewel case should protect the CD. If the CDs are inside tightly, then maybe they won't fall out with an accident. I guess those paper sleeves over the jewel case helps to secure the CDs inside.
  8. When I saw the links, I assumed BNBB was not in a hurry to open.
  9. I have the 4LP box set w/booklet, but no poster. Can somebody put a picture of it online? Also have laserdiscs of vol. 1 & 2. So I'm missing vol. 3? (vol. 1 & 2 were an hour each) I could put transfer these to vhs tape, but you say they are going to be re-issued on DVD?
  10. Yes, I ran out of CDs to buy after using the 50% coupons over and over. I even passed them out in front of the store.
  11. I'm looking for VITAPHONE SHORTS - A 70th Anniversary Celebration Vol. 1 (5 LD) box set. Oops - Vol. 1 is SWING, SWING, SWING. Already have it. How do I delete this post?
  12. Are you record shopping? Amoeba - 6400 Sunset Blvd. Bruce Springsteen plays Aug 17 at Dodger Stadium. Visit? Going to the regular dumb stuff like Disney? Knotts Berry Farm? Universal City? Santa Monica Pier? Museums? Getty Center Melrose St Santa Monica Blvd (West Hollywood area) (gay area) Drive down Hollywood Blvd (Chinese Gumm theater etc), start at Highland go east.
  13. JULY--VINYL Version of Miles at the Blackhawk(6 LPs) SEPTEMBER--Complete Gerry Mulligan Jazz Concert Band 4cds NOVEMBER--Complete Verve Roy Eldridge Studio Sessions-- 7cds Mosaic Selects SEPTEMBER Paul Chambers & John Patton End of the Year: Curtis Amy & Duke Pearson The Mosaic Selects are 3-CD sets priced at $39
  14. I wouldn't think so. On the back of this one it says "If you aren't on our mailing list and would like to receive our Full Size Mosaic brochure with more complete descriptions of the sets, please give us a call or request one through our website" Guess you have to read the FINE PRINT. Otherwise, I thought Mosaic was trying to save buck. Is it the size that counts?
  15. Supposedly, about 60% of men responded that they would take advantage of a woman, if they could get away with it. Face up to it, men are not that civilized, look at all the criminals and dishonest CEO's. Men love to fight. Didn't Bush just take us to war? If we didn't have sports, we'd kill ourselves. The world is full of warlords and gang members. In most of the world, women have no rights. Men take advantage of them.
  16. This news will replace the Laci Peterson murder.
  17. Lucinda Williams (KOCH) remastered w/bonus cuts (her white album) D1481217 Highly recommended. 5 stars
  18. Kobe thought he could get some free sex. Guess he's paying for it now. He should have gone to college to get 'schooled.' Course, Bill Clinton had the same problems. (messing with the wrong women : Paula Jones - Monica)
  19. Get the Tristano/Marsh/Konitz.
  20. Let's see, Norah Jones has sold about 10 million CDs worldwide. Blue Note puts copy protection on this album? They ought to put it on the Mosaic sets.
  21. I posted this on the Blue Note Board, but it's gone. Does anyone want these brochures? #8 Count Basie #9 Art Blakey #24 Miles Davis #26 Kid Ory Pay the postage and they are yours. Spoken for 8/03
  22. Joan Armatrading 2-CD anthology - LOVE & AFFECTION is available. Also Rosanne Cash's latest: RULES OF TRAVEL. A bunch, maybe all of Lenny Kravitz CDs are available. I'm getting his GREATEST HITS. Pink's UNDERSTANDING (her latest) is there too.
  23. I've made a copy from the library CD, then bought the CD from BMG. ($4 w/enrollment deal)
  24. That's a great tip, also you can use your double your bonus dollars with Red Lobster.
  25. I assume you're talking about the OOP sets? And again, you might be talking about ebay prices. But there have been sales on ebay for less than retail. Not often. The Four Freshmen and Bobby Hackett probably won't sell for more, even when they go OOP. I've seen several Mosaic sets at used stores for less than the retail price. It's all supply/demand.
