In Praise of Dreams is all I've heard, so he's new to me. I can't say it got me all excited and running to the record store (or sites) to buy more, but I enjoyed it.
  2. Well, before this runs it's course we should see the "haunted fart painting" for that purpose...
  3. Man, that one makes me as nervous as a cat in a roomful of rocking chairs!
  4. I was up there at one time...no, really...now I'm being passed by someone new seems like every week...but...ah, hand me that bottle.
  5. Of all people to be shocked when I hear of his death...yet I am.
  6. Well...you could always make a daytrip down to Berkeley...
  7. Thanks, Chris!
  8. Hell yeah!!!
  9. Wait a minute; what was the question?
  10. I voted for "tie", with the assumption that the 'etc.' included 'this song is so frickin' bad it makes my ears bleed and those repsonsible should be first up against the wall when the revolution comes, especially Don Kirchner, of course'; if not let me know, I'll need to change my vote...
  11. Wow, how many times did I do that back then! Okay, I was trippin', not drunk, and I was trying to smash the disco LP, and my pants were probably hanging from a tree, not around my ankles, and...come to think of it, there's nothing similar here at all...never mind!
  12. One addition to the thread; I'll have to throw my two cents worth in on the AEC recommendations. If I had to pick one to recommend, I'd go with Fanfare for the Warriors myself. But then who's gonna stop with one anyway...
  13. Oh yeah, Ornette finally 'clicked'; thanks to my wife I've had the Beauty is a Rare Thing box for a little over a year. Wow, this is really a trip seeing this thread now, and thinking about all the new music I've tried since it started. A lot of new-to-me artists have shown up on my shelves since then; those who appear in multiple disc quantities include Fred Anderson, The Art Ensemble, Albert Ayler, Peter Brotzmann, Ornette, Roscoe Mitchell, Joe McPhee (who until recently sat on my shelves unheard...what a mistake!) and Ken Vandermark (who I like more than most here, apparently). More is on the way. It's overwhelming in many ways, but the excitement of discovery is still there. I know one thing; I sure wish I'd been into jazz back in '79 when I lived near Chicago...
  14. I think we have more of a Ralph Spoilsport on our hands... Well put...
  15. On second thought, I'll grab him and you tickle him with a feather. Always preferred George Formby, look him up on google! Che. I'm a George Leroy Tirebiter man myself, but to each his own...
  16. In the short time I have been involved with this board, I have a sense that there are a few posters, that have opinions on almost any subject and 1000's and 1000's of post later, they still have the same views and opinions. I have no idea what you mean by the term 'game'. Che Your last post is exactly what I mean by "game". It's total bullshit. Why don't you show us how it's done? Post some of the many thoughts and ideas you've mentioned so often. Oh my. I will not respond to abuse. Che. And yet...
  17. I got season five for my birthday this year; she may not like jazz, but she has good taste in cartoons...
  18. Yep, you're right...for some reason I couldn't find it yesterday. "One Fish, Two Fish, Blowfish, Blue Fish" Next to the last on the second disc.
  19. I probably would have agreed with you if it wasn't for your silly undergraduate psych paper...
  20. che, if you're going to be judgemental about people, don't be so friggin' surprised when they get surly on you, okay? Yes, I know the tone of this post is agressive. Deal with it.
  21. Exactly. Dude has been posting his arse off since day one, that's why I don't get the intimidation thing he speaks of. No shit; three more posts and he passes me!
  22. Good point. If you don't feel welcome here, a fancy welcome thread with balloons and flowers won't change things. And there's no welcome gift until you reach the level of "exalted grand poobah" (watch JSngry's postcount to see when it clicks in...), so what does it matter?
