  1. Whew! I was expecting Vibes' next post to be something like "I'm posting on my laptop, sitting in the Dumped Hubby Motel..." Personally, I'd alter the one about the kids and just lock them in a closet after sedating them, but other than that, it looks good to me. "What dear?" Oops...gotta go guys!
  2. Oh god...is this going to become the "Funny Aardvark" thread?
  3. Shame on you. Damn. I'm out of pistachio nuts...
  4. I mean, is it?
  5. Post count?? Is that all you people care about?
  6. No, it was me, whom I already know fairly well...
  7. Time to bring back Mrs. Anne Elk from JazzCorner...
  8. Who the hell is Jim Dye?
  9. Hmmm...okay, I'm beginning to see some value in this project...
  10. By the way, you need some Pepper Adams!
  11. Yeah, I tried this a few times, but I never get too far. One CD always triggers the desire to hear another much farther down the line or something, so it never works. I end up listening to whatever I want to listen to instead of the next one on the shelf, which, when you think about it, makes more sense anyway...
  12. Don't do it, shrugs! Then he'll want to show you his...
  13. Thanks for spilling my keyboard with beer. Coffee tends to spill as well...
  14. Windier than a politicians speech at the moment...
  15. Hm - and nobody missed you? Well, surely someone noticed that it was quieter...
  16. Yeah, the Spaceways Incorporated disc Thirteen Cosmic Standards had me dancin' in the living room and preaching to the heathens, just like the early days. As did the recent Drake/Anderson CD. My horizons have expanded again, so I've been having a few of those moments lately.
  17. I haven't been there since that policy started, so I would have never known.
  18. You're lucky. My wife's thing is Seventh Heaven. Not a decent ogle to be had...
  19. Devil with the Blue Dress On...
  20. Well, the verdict is in for me after a few listens. There's definitely a "Costello touch" to this puppy that for some reason I find distracting rather than interesting. Krall shows more emotion with her lyrics than I've ever heard before, and a couple of her piano solos are interesting. But over all, I think Sundog nailed it with "underwhelmed". Add disappointed to my reaction. While a couple of songs strike me as interesting, and I definitely prefer it musically over the overly "LiPuma-ized" string extravaganzas, the disc boils down to a lot of nice work lacking in any soul. I think I'll be leaving the Krall purchases up to the wife from now on...
  21. I'm thinking of changing my handle as well. Something that'll give me a little more anonimity...maybe "Polkacaribou" or something...
  22. Certainly more than 51, and less than 53.
  23. Amen. Some greens on the side wouldn't hurt, either. (Never thought I'd get homesick for Georgia...)
  24. I fell victim to Borders' "Buy 3, get the 4th for free" come on today; picked up... Sun Ra: We Travel the Space Ways/Bad and Beautiful Roland Kirk: We Free Kings Lester Bowie: When the Spirit Returns and finally... Charlie Haden: Liberation Music Orchestra
