  1. You have to have balls to say that
  2. I actually thought of the Doors and Apocalypse Now.
  3. If I weren't a member of the legal profession, this would be a hoot. Actually, it's still pretty funny
  4. I hate to go back on my word but since you asked: If Bobby Valentine becomes the manager of the Boston franchise of the American League, I will cease to follow that team at all until such time as he is fired. And you can take that to the bank. To me that makes no sense. You root for the team through thick and thin. As players come and go, we, as fans, are still there. I may not always like (more often than not, if you have to know the truth) what the Mets do but I've been rooting for them for 50 years and I'm too old to kick the habit Agree with you on that. I became a Yankee fan in 1964. I was eight years old, the Mets were a joke, the Yanks make the WS and lose in 7 to the Cards. They don't sniff a game after #162 until 1976, by which time I was 20 and had suffered through Horace Clarke, etc. for my adolescence. I stuck with my team through thick and thin and I still do. It's much easier now to be a Yankee fan, but I remember the lean years, the Stump Merrill years, etc. I used to watch the Yankees then and root for them. Even though some of those late 60s teams weren't good, they did have a personality. I loved Horace as well as Jerry Kenney. They tried a lot.
  5. If you have the Chess Box, do you need the Hip-O? Not criticizing, just askin'
  6. Wow, this is an old one indeed. Not sure I ever saw it or responded but I guess my comment would be what does it matter.
  7. Couldn't agree more with Dave.

  9. Mets are also going back to their classic uniforms and, thereby removing the black jerseys.
  10. Speaking of logos and such, I had heard or seen somewhere that the Orioles are returning to the Oriole logo they had back in the 60s.
  11. Chuck, What did you mean by "this era is ending." Are you saying that Mosaic is an endangered species or that we wouldn't see music like this released by any company in the future. Brad
  12. Just received an email about it and must have missed this thread earlier but sounds quite exciting. Two great sets with the Hawkins coming up.
  13. I wouldn't be surprised either, but that is a most ignoble goal, imo. Agreed.
  14. With the Astros move, there would interleague play every day, which is unavoidable when you have 15 teams in each league. I wouldn't be surprised if the long term goal of the "minds that be" in baseball is to have somethin like the NFL where inter-conference games are part of the landscape.
  15. Deadspin.com has a timeline of events today which, in part, shows how many people and organizations knew what was going on but yet Sandusky wasn't stopped. See Penn State timeline. It really is incredible. You can't speak for non-Penn State individuals and organizations, but the only inescapable conclusion you can draw from the Penn State organizations and individuals who knew is that it was all about protecting the brand and the stream of income from the football program.
  16. I don't know if this is the answer but the ballpark the Marlins have played in (formerly Joe Robbie but no idea what it's called now) is atrocious. It's a football stadium and because of that and the weather, a lot of fans didn't show. They look like they have a great stadium now and they can use the roof. That should help. It's also in the middle of Little Havana. That could be a smart move, trying to lure Cuban Americans into the ballpark.
  17. Marlins have reportedly made Reyes an offer of $90 mill for six years, something I'm sure the Mets won't try to match.
  18. Recommended for students of Lincoln and the Civil War.
  19. Here's a rendering of the new ballpark for the Marlins. They've also redesigned their logo and uniforms.
  20. Master Jazz Piano, Disc 1 (Earl Hines).
  21. I really have no idea what you're talking about especially since I don't post all that much but if you object to the fact that I took your post out of context and gave a meaning not intended, my apologies. Regards, Brad
  22. They're reporting up here that the Marlins (who are changing their name to the Miami Marlins) have made an offer to Pujols, as well as Reyes. I also believe they're moving into a new stadium in 2012.
  23. Apparently Paterno has retained the services of a well known criminal attorney, which is probably a wise move, and the assistant coach has been put on administrative leave, apparently for his own protection.
  24. Couldn't have said it better myself. Out of the mouth of babes
  25. Your posts are also amusing but typical. I don't know you in real life and perhaps you're a very nice person but on the baseball threads you come off rather boorish. I didn't hear the fine print but I did hear that he had signed with the Phillies.
