If this keeps up, you have to wonder how patient management will be with Francona.

Good question. I remember a playoff game with Alzado against the Jets and he was pretty much on the steroids then and he ripped off a Jets player's helmet and the Jet reacting like what is wrong with you man? Everyone knew it was the steroids. Must be something in the Bay area water

There's an article in today's Times talking about his poor start.

This has been a waste of a thread. Who cares? He has been convicted (or maybe not) in the court of public opinion, regardless of his guilt or innocence. But more importantly what a waste of public money. Thank goodness he's out of baseball and the Giants won the Series without him.

LF:Night of The Cooker Vols 1-2 - RVG Edition
Brad replied to marcoliv's topic in Offering and Looking For...
Pretty awful album. An oxymoron for a title. -
This article, Mets Abused Feliciano, shows what an imbecile Cashman is. Ever heard of caveat emptor Brian

For Yankee fans who have DirecTv or Mets fans who have Dish Network, you better find another way to watch your teams because those networks are dropping YES and SNY, respectively. See here.

Ear won't "pop" after flying...
Brad replied to Free For All's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Jim is so spot on. I've had numerous ear infections in my adulthood that eventually it lead to tinnitus, which aint fun (although I've gotten used to it). Don't mess around. -
Besides the Savoy Dial box and the Live Savoy box, you need to get the Verve box, a 10 cd set. A few years ago, Verve released this in a master take basis. Don't know if they're still currently available but I'm sure you can find it on the secondary market. Now, if you can't get enough Bird after all that, there is the Benedetti Mosaic box, just Bird solos and not great sound. Also check out his KC days. There are a couple of Cds. Also, the JATP material is worth checking out.

Ear won't "pop" after flying...

Get yourself to an ENT as soon as possible. I suffer from bad ears, imcluding suffering from tinnitis. If my ears are blocked, I won't get on a plane. -
Thanks for that, Brad. I don't recall listening to her in the wee hours, but heard her call Mike and Dog a few times back in the day. I thought you might like. She used to call into Steve Somers when he did the overnight, "talking s-p-o-r-t-s under the covers," as he used to put it.

Doris From Rego Park I don't know how many of you listen to sports radio but WFAN is the grand-daddy of sports radio, or at least one of the first, started back in 1987. There would be many a night in the early days when I couldn't sleep and listen to the station at night. Well, one of the constant callers was Doris Bauer, known to listeners of WFAN, whether you rooted for the Mets or the Yankees, as Doris From Rego Park. She would call very late and due to a medical condition would caught a lot. That is what, in fact, made her distinctive. Doris died in 2003 but just in time for spring training a fan has written a song about her and there is an article about his paean to her in today's New York Times. The article includes the song. Great little article and brought a tear to my eye. This may not mean much to many of you who don't live in the New York or listen to WFAN but to those who do, it will bring back memories of Doris.

Financial news on Mets ownership is getting worse: no more loans from MLB. Unless they find somebody who will buy a minority share quickly, they may run out of cash and MLB may have to take it over. I can't see somebody buying a minority share unless it's coupled with an option to buy the remainder. For the life of me I don't know why you need a house that big but I guess if you have it, why not. I would prefer to have a house along the beach but that's just me

Duke Snider September 19, 1926 – February 27, 2011
Brad replied to Hardbopjazz's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
We were blessed with three great center fielders in the 50s, all World Series champs. I saw Duke play when he was with the Mets, but not in his heyday. -
New Coleman Hawkins Mosaic big box coming
Brad replied to ghost of miles's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
I've got a feeling it may be awhile for the Hawk set but, hey, it's good news anyway. -
All Cds on hold have been shipped and removed from the list. Thanks all. Still a few good Cds left.

Upcoming Lucky Thompson Select tracklisting
Brad replied to J.A.W.'s topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
I'm curious about the status myself. Probably have some of the sessions but this is a good way to support Mosaic. -
Just listened to The Brass Giants the other day. What a joy to listen to. Probably the first time I've listened to it since this thread started

Police arrest 11-year-old over 'inappropriate' stick figure
Brad replied to BERIGAN's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
I hope his parents sue the ass off the police department and the school. My son has ADD and the school, although providing requisite services and such, was only interested in the star students. I'm so glad he's out of that god damn school system. -
Prices reduced; everything is $5. Knocked .50 off on shipping also.
