  1. obviously it's not that crazy. there's an identical set with a current bid of $501. some people want what other people got. 'taint nothin' crazy 'bout that!
  2. even their name sucks.
  3. all newbie-kidding aside, guys, i have a few older cds by mercedes sosa and they are quite good imo.
  4. i just got home from seeing da boyz. to tell the truth, i had planned to attend mostly out of loyalty. i was not prepared for what i saw and heard. these guys are very good, and they put on a great show. by all means, if you have a chance to see the band, don't miss them!
  5. from the show's website: CHRISTINA AGUILERA & HERBIE HANCOCK perform their duet, "A Song For You" from Herbie's new CD, "Possibilities." so there!
  6. the answer is no, except for one pause between tracks 5 and 6.
  7. what on earth possessed you to post a picture of stooge imposters?!? here's the real thing:
  8. i have this cd. all i had to do to make a copy on my hard drive was hold down the shift key while loading it into the computer. this prevents the auto start that installs the imbedded software. it's that simple. i don't have an ipod, but i would imagine you'd have no trouble loading this copy into itunes, right?
  9. i recommend spending the extra few bucks to get the recent 20bit K2 reissue.
  10. does this title feature the same tracks as serenade & blues?
  11. lon, with all due respect, the salvation army gets none of my money. their ongoing discrimination against gays and lesbians has been well-documented. hell, they have even been sued by their own employees who were non-christian for discrimination!
  12. we finally agree!
  13. i'm still a big fan - of the music they created over 35 years ago. imo, most of these musicians (pop, rock, etc.) don't age very well. i have little or no interest in what the stones, mccartney, page, plant, and most of the other aging rockers are doing today. they had their time in the sun, and thanks to their recordings, i can still enjoy those days. i pray i never grow into one of those middle-aged farts you see in the audience at an oldies concert. mind you, listening to older jazz musicians who still have their chops - now that's a whole different story!
  14. they can be purchased cheaper elsewhere. for example, buy.com has the lou rawls and don ellis for 12.98 with free shipping on orders over $25. buy.com frequently offers coupons for extra savings as well. in addition, overstock sells them for 12.78 and they're 12.59 at cd universe, but both of these vendors charge for shipping. do a froogle search on the title you want and go for the best deal.
  15. sadly, i see that one of the artists stokes profiled, vocalist pam bricker, committed suicide earlier this year.
  16. i was checking out the website of a small used cd/vinyl store in my area to find out when they're open, and i came upon something they call the band name generator. now, fledging groups can spare themselves countless hours of brain-racking and in-fighting with other band members over what to call themselves. check out this link and try it yourself. click on the words "band name generator' on the left - planet records. post some favorites if you wish. here are some names i'm considering: the thelonious monkees the self righteous brothers weasel queef
  17. and a howdy to you too!
  18. Hey gang, I'm looking for this 1996 recording on the Swiss Claves Jazz label featuring Jack Wilkins and Kenny Drew, Jr. Any help would be appreciated.
  19. 2005 is the 30th anniversary of the founding of the black saint label. as far as i can see, there's no new u.s. distributor, just north country/cadence. i was sorry to see allegro stop distributing black saint and soul note a while back. i used to be able to get a good number of their titles fairly cheap from allegro's outlet store: cybermusicsurplus. btw, cybermusicsurplus.com is having their end of the summer clearance sale. even without the bs/sn catalog, they've still got a lot of nice titles to choose from on labels like linn, great jazz masters (24bit remastered black lion titles), freelance, epm, ronnie's scott's jazz house, and others. most of the cds i ordered were under $5!
  20. yes, the same theme is used in both titles. btw, dolphy's mandrake is the same tune as the madrig speaks the panther walks. also, it is argued that coltrane's miles' mode was actually written by dolphy and appeared earlier under the title red planet.
  21. yes, it's a compilation, as are the other titles in this series: the artist selects - freddie hubbard the artist selects - kenny burrell the artist selects - lou donaldson
  22. so far, this one has my vote for 2006:
  23. well yeah, now it works!
  24. according to the link you provided, you're not currently selling anything.
