  1. LOLs. I may be homeless by the end of the week, but I will have the most kick-ass cd collection around! A note about Reckless Records, it's not quite the same as it was when I was in Chicago 15 years ago. Far more care was given to CD's then now. For example, I'm sure we CD/LP collectors know that sunlight fades/ruins the colors on CD spines/covers, but Reckless is kinda', well, reckless. They put the jazz CD's right by the window, right in front of the sunshine, and the Impulse and Atlantic spines suffered the most, because of the orange and red colors. I probably would've bought more, but the damage to the CD art was already done. A shame.
  2. I've been in Chicago since Monday, and my wallet is ready to shoot me, but after Signal Records and Reckless down the street on Milwaukee, I don't know how I am going to get through Dusty Groove without refinancing my home. So far: Stanley Cowell. Brilliant Circles. Freedom Japan mini LP. Albert Ayler. Spirits, Debut Japan mini LP (upgrade from some mid-level label I have). Cecil Taylor. Live at the Cafe Montmartre. Freedom Japan mini LP (original cover art!) Paul Bley. Touching. Japan mini LP ( Röling art). Dewey Redman. Look for the Black Star. Japan mini LP (Röling art). Gabor Szabo. Spellbinder (Verve digi pak). Lee Konitz. At Storyville. Storyville Japan mini LP 2 CD set. Zoot Sims and Bob Brookmeyer. Tonight's Music Today. Storyville Japan mini LP 2 CD set. Bobby Hutcherson. Total Eclipse. BN Japan Budget (upgrade from the original CD issue). Milt Jackson. Bag's Opus. UA/BN, not a club edition! Jimmy Smith. At Club Baby Grand, vols I & II, BN Japan Budget Dizzy Reece. Blues in Trinity. BN Connoisseur. Long story short, when my first daughter was 2, she spilled milk on the R's and this was one of the casualties. Bought the TOCJ because the Connie went OPP but it was missing the last three tracks. Nearly 25 years later...got it back!) Kai Winding. The Incredible Trombones... impulse! Japan. Have the LP sleeve framed on the wall, now I can listen to the music! (I do not have a operating turntable) Larry Young. Young Blues. OJC. 'Nuff said.
  3. Another 👍 Wow! Never seen these before! Weird? I like disc two more than disc one.
  4. Another great! Thank you for all the great music, RIP! Enjoy this date very much:
  5. Glad to have this goodie on CD. RIP!
  6. Right up their with The Prisoner, not a clinker! Great records!
  7. I get what you're saying, but it seems absolutely absurd. US buyers of BN CD's have to shop the Japanese market for a US-based company product. Admittedly, they are usually better quality, but why doesn't the US issue everything on CD like most of us in the US seem to listen to in CD format? Like why vinyl? Many LP's now reissued, I can't listen to unless, I get my turntable, equalizer and bunch of other crap I no longer have together. Like all the stuff BN is reissuing that we wished would come out on CD, seemingly will never see produced here in the USA.
  8. I don't have Volume 1! Volume 2 is awesome! Music, yeah! But the album sleeve? Dunno, the wife-beater shirt always made me uncomfortable, not Bobby's best look, lols.
  9. Done, see what happens. Joe is the go-to guy, gotta think he talks to Don.😁
  10. Yeah, this is not going to be as easy as I thought when I talked to Joe. Mr. Was (not Was)? Can we walk our dinosaurs together? About those Jackie Mac's... Kevin, I am on a mission, I am going to get a convo going with Mr. Was, and get those Jackie Mac's on board for release. Look, Joe loves Jackie Mac, think Don Was is going to have to face the fact that Jackie Mac is a big deal at Blue Note. This is what I am going to do. I am going to email Joe and get a Zoom meeting set up with Don and pitch these Jackie Mac CD's. That's just what I do. HG
  11. BN did release Just Coolin' as a slim Digi-pack, at an affordable price. Who on this board wouldn't scoop up new Digi's of HF and Hipnosis? Spitballin', but this board alone would probably cover production costs, cuz' we're all going to buy it, right?. My favorite records!!! Joe wrote back to me within a day, I'll just write to Don next. As soon as I talk about what a huge fan I was of Was (Not Was) and walking the dinosaur, we'll have single cd reissues in no time. 😊
  12. Kind of re-exploring Andrew Hill's tenure at BN, from Time Lines, 2006, back to the late 80's, Eternal Spirit, But Not Farewell, to the last album he cut before leaving in 1969; but wow, the pile of material he recorded between '68-'69, some of my favorite!
  13. Listed under, uhhhh, don't tell the wife she's hot? Just thinking out loud, married guys!
  14. I don't think my wife ever went to another rock concert with me again. Let me tell you, being a life-long 311 freak and building this show up since they recorded this great record she better love it!!!
  15. Woah, never seen this before, and yeah, East Coast rules! (not starting a turf war 🤔). Encore!
  16. West Coast Time (Although I'm from the East Coast)
  17. Complete Teaser!!!
