Like I said, honest opinions are what counts, and if you have thoguhtful reasons for why you don't like something, that's all good. So thank you for participating! Did your DL have thumbnails on two cuts? I tried everything to get rid of them and couldn't. I was just happy that the player itself didn't get hung on them.

  17. This is not really a "music" album, but it's an invaluable document. From 1956: It very much has a natural, almost eavesdropping feel to it, right down to including an Amateur Night segment that is indeed that.

  19. That would be my personal assessment, yes. I think Byas was tremendously important and consistently enjoyable. And by definition, more "modern" than the Chu. Having said that those Vanguard records are certainly enjoyable or better. And there will, again by definition, have a variety of solo voices.
  20. Byas was a master musician. Vanguard was a label that put out some good records.
