  1. I didn't know until; fairly recently that the song was originally intended for The Spinners. I mean, that would have been good, but probably just a really good cryin' song. Jimmy Ruffin put that....thing in it that made it more about the broken dreams than just the broken heart. A broken heart can heal, but a broken spirit lingers forever, no getting it back whole, hello humpty-Dumpty of the soul, and that's where Jimmy Ruffin took it.
  2. I heard this on a podcast today, and...I dunno. Very impressive vision, but the content seems kinda noodle-y to me, like safe, like it would sound like that no matter what, where, or how. The only real dynamics come from addition or subtraction of texture, not from inside a line itself. Blame it on the technology, maybe. Nevertheless, seems like a fertile enough mind. Might be into checking out something else that's less bound to the technology, see what happens there.
  3. Which Wayne soprano sound are we talking about? The one he had when he was just starting to deal with the instrument, the one that he had when started feeling really comfortable with it, or the later one where he could/can make it make any sound it needed to make any time he wanted to? Same thing with Sonny Rollins' post=comeback sound, people say they don't like it, I have to ask, again, which one? Because there are several, neither him nor Wayne are people who just got "a sound" and stayed there no matter what. They kept working with it and over time it would become something else altogether. Some of it age, some of is clarity, some of it is a greater command, all of that.
  4. That sounds like I might end up staying on the island longer than I had to, just to get my money out of the phone. Which I guess leads to the question, how much did I pay for this phone, did I get it new, and has it been jailbroke yet? Because those are all factors. Maybe the question now is this - if you were going to be stranded on a desert island, what eight portable devices would you take? Make mine youTube!
  5. So is Tom Hanks still on this island, or is he off it now? Because if he's off, then hey, we'll just do that. And if he's still on, then maybe I look for another island, you know, keep on swimming, like Shine. Besides, ipod, why would I go to a desert island with discontinued technology? This island, maybe, especially if no haircuts are available.
  6. Thanks for the tip.
  7. Again I ask - is there gonna be wi-fi on this island? Because if so, I'll just use the cloud and have it all.
  8. Am I gettin' wi-fi on this island?
  9. Of those three BNs, Moto Grosso Feio will always be comfortably third. Between the other two, depends on what kind of place you want to go to when you press the play button. I generally prefer Iska, but that's an evolutionary progression. Can't go wrong with Etc., though, it's a lot more of a "jazz" records. I'd not rest until I got a copy of the original LT LP, though, just for the cover. I got Native Dancer in the Complete Columbia Albums box, and it's fine there. If you have even half an interest in the others contained in that set, that's the way to go to get that one, I think.
  10. Yep.
  11. Residents of Brinkley, Arkansas Craig Hundley Dr. Alfred Kinsey
  12. It might be relevant to note that it's "Yony", not "Yoni"...two different things going on there....
  13. Not sure if it was a case of moving back or just naturally moving back and forth.
  14. Dennis Menke Tom Henke Fred Hemke
  15. The Baltimore Bullets The Baltimore Colts That Used To Be The Miami Seahawks The Baltimore Colts That Used To Be The Dallas Texans
  16. Fully-ish understand why/how it could never/never did happen, but in theory...considering how well Jackie did with Grachan's thing, wouldn't it be worth a consideration to ponder a pairing of Jackie with Alan Shorter and/or his book?
  17. Female, and Polish. Obvious "Threnody..." offshoot, but it's a game not well-played if not played perfectly, and I do think this is.
  18. "As I walk this land of broken dreams, I have visions of many things." I mean, jesus, right there, that's it, game over, right there. Win, forever Win. Forever.
  19. Johnny Depp as Harry Evans, Jeff Goldblum as Bill Evans, just to a straight re-creation of The Universal Mind. With bonus commentary by Lisa Kudrow as Valerie Cherish as Helen Keane, and with special introduction introduction by Morgan Freeman as "Roston" (voice only). Directed by Rob Reiner and/or Ron Howard. How does that not work?
  20. That's one of the greatest records ever made, only made greater by the song itself.
  21. Just bend him in half.
  22. Larry King as Symphony Sid. You'll only hate it until you see it. Then you'll wonder what took so long. After that, you'll be delighted that it was finally done so that it will never have to be done again.
  23. Sweet Honey Bee Honeybee Gillis Honey Cone
  24. Glad to have that confirmed. I was wondering if I was even more ignorant than I know I am.
