  2. We need a book, not a tome. A real book that gives broader context and scholarly researchful insight. If it's real, it can be quantified, and since jazz influence is being posited as being in fact being real, it is time for science to step up to the spotlight and do its thing for the benefit of humankind now. And if fails - then this whole "jazz influence" thing has just been a misperceived romanticized perception of a quantifiable social behavioral and/or phenomenon. That too, then, should be written as a book, lest there be debate about facts. We need a book. Now more than ever, before this thing gets out of hand.
  3. 12" came to be the norm for longer classical works, correct? 4-5 min/side is their capacity. My uncle had this one, first 12" 78 I had ever seen.
  4. Great cover, but the music is the type that 10-15 years go by and I say, hey, I should listen to this again, and then I do, and then I say, I should listen to this more often, and then 10-15 years go by and, hello, here we are again.
  5. The cover still has an impulse! logo on it, correct?
  6. We need for somebody to write a book about this.

  11. This being Bill Evans on Verve, I had planned on listening to it in my car, maybe with even the top down. So...should I plan on driving in reverse if it sounds bad under those conditions? I just wanted some ok music at a cheap price, I didn't want to have to relearn how to drive, Should I ask for a refund once it gets here? If so, how does that work in Italian, because I'm getting bombarded (literally!) with Amazon emails in Italian, and I'm like, uh, perhaps not, please? Also, Texas not being a particularly forward looking state in any regard except legal driving position, should I stick to the toll roads, figuring that I might have a shot at the "hey, I'm paying for this drive, I can go any damn way I want to, this is TEXAS Your Honor!!!!!" argument in court and hope that my cry of desperation-induced personal liberty violations is taken seriously? I should note at this point that I do not have money to pay for an expensive attorney, just a cheap amazon.it Bill Evans Verve box. So all directives should be framed accordingly, please.

    Oregon (the band)

It sounds like it might not have ever happened if they both hadn't been signed to Vanguard at the time... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NX07s5DXIU0 I mean, that's pretty good, really, but it could totally have happened without Elvin. Thanks, Jim; I really enjoyed that. I disagree that "it could totally have happened without Elvin" - this track has a harder edge and an insistent groove that Oregon wasn't doing. He drives them more into a Yusef Lateef area. It's great that Collin Walcott, accompanying Elvin, sounds more like a Ray Barretto on one of Lou Donaldson's records. Very nice. Didn't meant that Elvin didn't change things, just that it;s not an "only Elvin could have made this happen" kind of things like the other cut was. That one screams Elvin. This one is more like, hey Oregon's playing with a different drummer, eh? But yeah, you play with Elvin, things change, automatically. Always!

  21. We had these things in the stores here all fall long, and then around January, they were gone. I figured, oh well, just because these grapes were exceptional, the grapes we had before were pretty good too, it'll be easy to go back. Well, no, it hasn't been. The regular grapes are puny and unbalanced in flavor in comparison to the Scarlotta. Boo, mediocre grapes, boo. I know some people live in places where good table grapes grow up out of the sidewalks and down from the clouds, so naturally plentiful are they, but I do not live in such a place. So - I am yearning for the return of the Sun World Scarlotta Seedless grapes, patiently waiting with a yearning in my heart, silent tears being quietly shed. Just don't tell me they're radioactive genetically engineered abominations...unless they really are.
  22. No...and it wouldn't make for a funny movie with him at his age now anyway. So who plays the "younger Richard Benjamin type" these days? Who's working that circuit?
