  1. You can use access to the sessions as/for a fundraising tool. It's been done before by some of those ArtistShare projects. Seriously.
  2. I thought you said the Maineotians were uncurious!
  3. Bacon is a breakfast food , Shakespeare a fishing reel, and all the world's a stage, so the plays write themselves.
  4. Those two things aren't the same at all. Word. It's a good thing you teach English and not math! Yeah, that would be properly stated as Dogs(A) are animals(B) Animals(B) are cats© Therefore dogs and cats are both animals. Also: Dogs x Cats = Animals x Animals Dogs x Cats = Animals2 Proof that if you want animals to be square, start by breeding dogs and cats.
  5. 9+8=17 10+7=17 Therefore 9+8=10+7 True 1 BMW = 1 Car 1 Mercedes = 1 Car Therefore 1 BMW + 1 Mercedes = 2 Cars True But 1 BMW = 1 Mercedes = False. That's just bad math. Bottom line - if you can't do math, don't drive European cars.
  6. Ray Noble The Cherokee People Mark Lindsay
  7. Those two things aren't the same at all. Word. It's a good thing you teach English and not math!
  8. 60s poppy Verves. Many of them had those expansively feminine fonts.
  9. Seems like more than a little bit of a stretch, logic-wise, Jim. Take it up with the guy who presented the request, and the guy who approved it as board policy. But yeah, it makes sense to me - fewer clickthroughs = less recorded traffic = less provable "viewership" = less an advertising rate that can be charged. It's not really "logic" as much as it is simply how shit works.
  10. Savoy released that album that had a bunch of United material on it. Does Delmark own that now, too?
  11. I can't believe this has to be explained in 2012. Hey - this is a jazz board. Many things that happened after 1968 or so still have to be explained.
  12. Damn! Thanks for reminding me of that one. Isn't that Buddie Emmons on pedal steel? Yessir.
  13. And check out what he can do with a truly heavy lyric, both aurally and visually: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6555121875635761110 That's one of the most disturbing music videos ever,,,

  15. There was a poster here a few years ago whose livelihood was somehow tied up to the traffic count on their company's website. This wasn't a retail site, it was a journalistic one. something about ad rates/revenue for the site depending on traffic counts, so when you paste the entire article here, it discourages the traffic to the actual site, which of course lowers the traffic count, which in turn lowers the feasible advertising rate, which then lowers revenue, which ultimately lowers individual income, including that of our fellow board member. IIRC, that was the genesis of the house rule. It seemed like an entirely reasonable request then,to only post a snippet and a link instead of an entire article, and it still does.
  16. If you're looking for organ featured with big band records, Jimmy Smith will more than fill the bucket. That, I do not know. But it remains a far, far better album than you think it would be, eve3n as it also remains pretty much totally inconsequential. One of those things that you want if you find it at the right time at the right place for the right price, but only if. There's also Old Flames, a Milestone date arranged by Jimmy Heath. All ballads, that one is.
  17. Have Bear Family eer done anything on Hovie Lister and The Statesmen Quartet?
  18. That is a superior effort by all concerned. Definitely. This one is good, too:
  19. or, for something alto-gether diffrent:
  20. I think the thing about linkage is the traffic numbers that result from click-throughs.
  21. I've got no issues with Denardo, then or now. None at all.
