  1. Phil Samms - Alone At Last
  2. They got beat rather handily last night... The match we're seeing is against MINY. Nicholas Pooran, who I guess is a kind of Babe Ruth figure. Watching the match last on TV. The players were mingling with the fans and signing autographs. You don't see that these days in other sports. Nice!
  3. I had not known that Calello's first name-brand gig was as arranger for The Four Seasons. That explains the relationship with Bob Gaudio, as well as his affinity for the vocal insanities of Lou Christie. He probably heard Christie and thought, oh, this guy is like Frankie Valli only WEIRD, I can have some fun here... Gaudio & Calello would soon enough get their kink on though:
  4. The food, yes...the website says : https://www.majorleaguecricket.com/fanfaq Can I buy food and drinks in the venue? Grand Prairie Stadium: Yes, food and drinks (including alcohol) will be available for sale at the venue. The food available will be a mix of cuisines ranging from ballpark classics (fries, hot dogs, etc.) to south asian favorites (biryani, chaat, etc.) to authentic Texas BBQ! So I'm like, half of me wants to stay in my seat and watch the match while the other half of me eats and eats and eats. Win-win, that would be!
  5. MLC season starts today. Willow is on it and it is on Willow My son and I are going to an evening match on July 14. I "had to" buy a yellow T-shirt to represent our "local" team. I probably need to buy new T-shirts anyway, in all colors! Better shopping through sports.
  6. At last!
  7. They should have had Lou Christie singing.
  8. The streaming platform remains operational but has yet to add any new content. There's a video of a Mickey Bass group with Carter Jefferson on there, though, that should probably be gotten before it goes.
  9. I seem to recall some story about UA repressing the entire BN LP catalog for some sort of "one last time" project on behest of...somebody.
  10. That Nicole Kidman sure goes to work!
  11. Spicy Foodyton - Spicy Comes a'Callin'!!!
  12. Jan Murray? What did he play in the movie?
  13. Good to see you, Paul, it's been a while!
  14. The credit to Rita Dyson is said to have come from Jet Magazine. Do any of those 45s have producer's credits on the label?
  15. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lightnin'_Strikes#:~:text=Ralph Casale's "stuttering" guitar solo was an overdub. https://www.songfacts.com/blog/interviews/ralph-casale-session-pro Ok, this is all falling together now. Avant-Garde as fuck. In its own world, of course.
  16. C. P. Monostereo - A Wonderful Day Party For You!!!
  17. Hey, Jim Palmer is still doing color on Orioles TV games and is as effortlessly lucid, articulate, and insightful as ever. At 78! If you got that MLB TV thing, check him out. This guy is a treasure
  18. Calello was the producer on Lou Christie s MGM hits and their B-sides. This one is more interesting than it has to be: Some people will say oh, that's just a bad song, just musically incoherent, and ok, maybe. But maybe not. Maybe it's simply som interesting choices. And who were those female singers? What did he tell them in order to get that crazy ensemble timbre? Attention should be paid. All things relative to their own size of course, but Lou Christie did some not uninteresting work.
  19. If vibes deflected full estimation of Bobby's talent, what do you reckon his 70s focus on marimba did?
  20. Charlie Calello went over to the dark side, but before he did, those Lou Christie hits of his were tight. Maybe even genius, to get normal human adults to make those sounds like they did, put together like that. That track should be studied. Rita Dyson pet a YT post. Not correct? Also interesting to see the intersection of Calello and Bob Gaudio on that song. Gaudio was another one who would do some offbeat shit in the backing tracks
