  1. I recently came across this album on Capitol by Lucho Gatica called Lara by Lucho. It's a gorgeous album of boleros, and more than a few of the arrangements sound more than a little like the work of Nelson Riddle (and better than usual Riddle at that). I see no arranging credits on the cover, and the album sounds as if more than one arranger was involved. I have found mention of Riddle & Latica collaborating on some english-language cuts, but these are, obviously, todo en Espanol. Does anybody know of a good Nelson Riddle board, or group, or anything/anyplace where an expert could give a definitive answer on whether or not Riddle's work is or is not heard on this album? As always, thanks in advance.

  4. Yeah, I know, but did you hear how they (and just who the hell would "they" be for this, anyway?) remixed Tina's vocal to be way up on top more, more like a conventional pop record? DAMN!

  16. Dude, it sounds like you got a potentially viable business on your hands. Maybe not a BIG one, but one that can provide you with some reliable income. Do you have any family/friends/whatever w/traditional business/marketing skills who could maybe give you some schooling on how to minimize loss and maximize profit, manage inventory, and stuff like that? There is a knack to making it work profitably, it's not all just luck.

  21. Which raises the question...was this intermission music cuts from the soundtrack itself, diffenrt versions of pieces from the soundtrack, or other music altogether, and, if one/both of the latter two are the case, did the Legacy reissue of the ST include this music? anybody here in w/that Duke Ellington Society group or whatever they are called? If anybody would know, it would be them...

  24. Well, they have, either disappeared or evolved substantially. No doubt that is something that has always been the case. It's just that with media, we now have a chance to "relive" them instead of uninterruptedly and/or un-self-consciously going on about our evolutions. That's...something different. In the olden days we'd have "legends" and stuff. Now we can see the real thing - or how the real thing was portrayed. Oh well...life goes on anyway, no? I found this comment interesting though... http://store.tvdays.com/servlet/Categories...17&total=42 Hmmmm....
