  1. HERE And a fine thing it is.
  2. Do you get a % of total order or a flat rate per transaction? I've been ordering J-Stuff through the Amazon-O/CDU-O link, sometimes at a slightly higher price than I could get it elsewhere, and if all y'all get is a flat rate then I'd just as soon save a few bucks, skip the link, and make a straight-up contribution.
  3. That's kinda deep... Seriously.
  4. That's one I've long wondered about (got rave reviews in its day) but have never heard. What sayest thou?
  5. Is she vulnerable?

    ALICE COLTRANE PASSES

Nor will it ever be defined. But that doesn't mean it's not real.
  7. Tom Sellick John Hillerman Roger E. Mosley
  8. No, the mixed reviews would be about having me as a father... Having me as a neighbor is probably more what you have in mind. If it's not, it should be.

    ALICE COLTRANE PASSES

Of course there is. How can there not be?
  10. You can ask my kids what that's been like... Mixed reviews, I'm sure, although once they get out of the house and get their own, I'm sure that will change for them as it did for me.
  11. Elvis was just looking for a cover in case he ever got busted.

    Roland Kirk

Warner Brothers. I pretty much agree about the last two, but the first one is actually one of my favorite Kirk "concept" (as opposed to "documentary") albums. Yeah, this is the one with that, uh...unfortunate vocal version of "Giant Steps", but that's the only downer on it for me. It's also got a version of "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat" with lyrics that are relevant to the subject in a way that Joni Mitchell's couldn't even begin to think about. Plus - Trudy Pitts makes an appearance. 'Nuff said. Ignore this album at your own risk!!!!
  14. Wow, two different altoists who remind me of Leo Wright, and neither one is!

  17. Ok. I thought/hoped you were, but you & I both know that the point remains valid. Read back over this thread & there's a comment or two implying that enthusiasm for this artist is based first & foremost on simple glandular appeal, when in fact nothing could be further from the truth. We both have daughters, Jim (mine's a lot older than yours, 17, but still...), & I'm ashamed but willing to admit that my own attitudes towards feminine sensuality were a lot more coarse than I realized. It took having a daughter & seeing her have to deal with the realities of male immaturity to wake me up to that. So that's the spirit in which the above comments were made - that "what a beautiful woman" & "god what a babe, I'd love to fuck the shit out of her" should in no way be considered different ways of expressing the same feelings.
  18. It's a beautiful thing.
  19. You know what. Yeah, that's an incredibly sexy video, but it's not the sleazy sexuality of a ho' trying to get your money by workin' dat laffy taffy. It's the honest beauty of a woman who has a truly beautiful spirit and lets it show. It's a sign of these wrong times that appreciating feminine beauty and sensuality is automatically assumed to be a sign of lustful horny desires. Any man (or woman) who can't differentiate between the two has some growing to do.
  20. Thanks to Joe G for the heads-up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDKXPOCkBZA By far and away her most overtly "pop" tune, but hey...
  21. (Big Chief Bo Dollis)
  22. "Just My Imagination" is one of my favorite songs, period.
  23. If you see one with a "Pennies From Heaven" w/a Frank Rosolino vocal, snap it up!
