  7. Dude - get otta South Arlington & hit the HPs in Dallas (but not Mesquite). I usually score something good, and since you don't have that much vinyl right now, your odds go up considerably. Hit the main store on NW Highway first, and look in all the categories. Of course, there's plenty of Goodwill stores (including a bigass one is S. Arlington, iirc), and if you're looking for Brother Dave Gardner LPs, hey, that's the ticket. But sometimes.... And yeah, Dusty Groove carries vinyl, new and used. Just be careful of anything used that's rated lower than VG+ (and even then if it's a "hot ticket" item that seems reasonably priced). If the rating is lower than VG+, and the prices is less than the cost of a full-sized fast food meal, then it's probably worht a shot just to get a play copy. Otherwise... Of course, now that you're consciously looking for vinyl, anytime you travel, plan your meal breaks (times & locations) around used record stores. It's a good way to "walk off" the meal.

  11. No, but it is the original LP, in original running order, with a bonus cut at the end. Right? I think it's the disruption of the original running order(s) that got everybody worked up. I can see that, but hey, don't be dropping new shit for no apparent good reason once you've put it out.
  12. LTB turned on the tv this morning, and it was on the Music Choice "Sounds Of The Season" channel for some reason. Probably El Carlitos' nocturnal doings. Anyway, since there's no "seasonal" music for right now other than the sound of sweat and desparation, they seem to be playing acid-jazz/nu-jazz/whateverthefucktheycallit. The music ranges from dreadfully boring to fairly stimulating, but what stopped me in my tracks was when heard a rather distinctive alto tone. I looked at the screen & saw the name Sonny Simmons. WHOA! And WTF? The album was called The Best Of The Rhythm Section and the cut was called "Tachyon". Nothing earth-shattering, but still, Sonny Simmons! A little research turns up this bit of info: No real reason for posting this other than to provided a bit of discographical trivia for Sonny Simmons fans. No need to rush out and find this unless you're a true completist.

  16. That's the first time I've hear about the Sinesio/RAI connection, but that would explain a lot of things. Fascinating bit of info if true!
  17. People bitched because the original album contents/sequences got all screwed up. They did the same thing with some Mobley shit, put sessions back together that had been split over albums and reissued them under the origian titl, and people got pissed. So they decided to not do that any more. Personally, I don't give a fuck. I prefer to have complete sessions together and then break it back into original release sequence on my own, if I ever feel the need (which I seldom do, since I got most of the stuff on LP anyway, as well as a functioning turntable & CD burner). But that's just me. The people spoke, and the people were heard. Still, ain't it a bitch to have once had everything (minus that one trio cut) out and now not to? Power to the people!

  24. Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't those two tunes recorded in two pieces each? There's a countoff at the beginning of each side, iirc.
  25. A few friends have sent Aldo Sinesio e-mails, trying to buy the LPs at his price. Those e-mails have gone unanswered.
