  1. I'm told that it is, yeah.

  3. I remember hearing it once, finding it interesting, and then never bothering with it again. But at least that one time was interesting?

There's definitely a market in making people feel good about themselves for feeling bad about themselves!!!
  5. Oh, sorry about that. At least there's some records. Maybe you can find them in your part of the world. I shared your affection for analog quartets, analog classical in general. I really like the sound of the pre-hifi records (especially 10" LPs), boxy yet with such an immediacy. It gets cleaned up in later iterations (when there are any), but I like those first attempts to get stuff on LP. Happy hunting, and let us know what you find!
  6. It does seem that the newer formal has been a drier and flatter ",just the facts" approach. Maybe that's reflective of fewer people being alive now who can offer all those real-time contributions? Not to single him out or anything, but Bob Blumenthal seems to be the gold standard for offering all of the facts and none of the insight. But he's not alone.
  7. I think that on the whole the earlier books were better written than the later sets. More back story, more anecdotes, more astute musical analysis. That's on the whole mind you.
  8. The image file needs to end with an extension like .jpg or .gif and needs to be copied in as well.

Sly Stone genuinely running out of ideas (and everything else) is infinitely more unfortunate for American Popular Music than Bob Dylan's, decades of variable hijinks of variable value. At least he was never adrift? To be fair though, it was a really surrealistic thing to repeatedly hear that song about serving the Devil or the Lord on the dying gasps of AM Top 40 surrounded by the worst Disco and other indications that White America was on the cusp of a total cataclysm of faux-repentance and self-bestowed redemption. Service was indeed rendered! Did they address you as Chuck?
  11. Had not heard this gem until now. Wish there would have been a list!

  13. Birdie Pardee - Pouteeen?

    Dylan In Order!!!
  15. They don't just gun them down, they mow them down, gangster style. It's a bit amazing, and not really in a fun way. And yet I watch. The lack of dialogue pulls me in before the slaughter begins I much prefer Lucas McCain or Paladin's thoughtful, measured approach to killing other humans on TV.
  16. Your ears or the headphones?
  17. Absolutely. That first issue was a disgrace.
  18. Maybe it was Duke Pearson who wanted all the reverb?
  19. Get the image URL. If it's a supported file, that what will work, using the Other Media/Insert Image From URL process. Same as it ever was.
  20. Add Mtume in there and it gets even more physical. Much more. In Japan is a very physical record, but you can't see it, you can "only" hear it. But that's for later, in the upcoming Milestone thread
  21. It's not a Milestone. Never was. But it is a really good one, especially the LP version. The best/most full document of the David Lee band which was mighty indeed. And seeing them is even better. You can see what Sonny is getting from them in terms of momentum and how he gives it back. That's not always apparent from just the audio, it's a very physical thing.
  22. Soul food from another kitchen!
  23. Birdie Pardee - Oh Darling, Please!!!
  24. She was on Jack Parr a lot, right? Trying to remember.
