  1. It's like ECM, only without the jazz.
  2. Whenever the subject arises, I like to point out that George Howard's cover album of There's A Riot Going On (on Blue Note) is actually a very good record. And I can also vouch that George Howard was getting huge radio play while he was alive. I really do think that any history of the "smooth jazz" and "Quiet storm" musics needs to feature him a bit prominently. He was that big in his time, and can quite reasonably be considered a transitional figure between Grover and what eventually devolved into Kenny G/etc.
  3. I prefer Movies over More Movies. And not just because Tony.
  4. George Howard was really popular and sold a lot of records. But then he died suddenly and that was the end of that.
  5. Talk about a more innocent time...

  7. Menopause can be crazy. PMS can be crazy. Job stress can be crazy Personal doubt can be crazy. I say this with the fullest of care - if this is all happening at once, there's not going to be any one thing that fixes all of it, so don't look for that. Just affirm the victories as they come, how they come, for as long as they last. This one may or may not go into extra innings, but there are no ties in baseball. Manage accordingly and never deplete you bench. Or hers Because right now, you and here are on the same team. The opponent is all this other stuff. So just... don't give the other team an opening to beat you And it's ok to scream. Just don't do it around her. But let her scream all she wants to, and around you as she sees fit. Until this is over, at which point, hey, it's the next game. But win this one first. Y'all are the home team, after all.
  8. Why would you hesitate to reach out to a gay co-worker? Do they not know you're heterosexual? Seriously, people are going to be caring and supportive or they're not. And sexual orientation is not a determine factor. An asshole is an asshole, period Not knowing the individuals involved, I can't say. But if you have a coworker, any coworker, with whom you can talk to as a person, by all means do so. This is not the kind of thing you share lavishly, but it's not the type of thing you hide away either. Sooner or later, it will impact your personal interactions at work and you will appreciate having somebody in your environment who understands what you're going through while she goes through what you're going through while you both go through what you both are going through

  10. I'm not a regular at CD Japan, but have used them for years with nothing but excellent results. My daughter uses them for anime products and is similarly satisfied. Order with confidence, imo.
  11. Take a vacation to Philadelphia and see what might have been.
  12. I wanted to put Frank Hewitt in there, but listening back, p[robably not, a little too much bebop, albeit executed in a kinda "odd" way.
  13. People were all like "wow, from Paul Chambers & Ron Carter to Michael Henderson, wow just wo", and I was like, would you really like to hear Paul Chambers in Live/Evil? Really? Silly talk is what it was.
  14. I know that Henderson "came from Motown" to join Miles, some stories have it that he was working in Stevie Wonder's band. Is there a documentation of his activity with the label and/or with Wonder specifically?

  23. Yeah, I had a cassette dub of Shades that played repeatedly in my car for Lord knows how many times over how many years. When I finally got a CD of, it was not to learn the record any more, but just because the tape was scaring me that it would work out and then I 'd be SOL. For me anyway, it's one of those records that sticks even after you know it inside and out. Everything is just there
