  1. and yet you thank the lord for the night time?
  2. Wait - ABBA too!
  3. Not even Neil Diamond?!?!?!?!?!?!?
  4. Capitol currently is representing as having an active artists roster! https://www.capitolrecords.com/artists/
  5. The Muse CD added a bonus cut of "Highest Mountain" that is certainly worthy. I don't know which would be harder to find today, that or the LP.
  6. And you know, if you're thumbing through the Sonny Stitt section in the record store, that green is visible even before you get to it, it's like a destination record if you know what I mean, you're not going to NOT know it's there.
  7. I like it. It's not an "all time great" or anything, but it's certainly a good listen.
  8. Yeah, I never heard that he was anything other than Ronnie Scott, musician (a really good one), club owner, funny guy, played on a Beatles record, maybe liked to get high, hardly "mysterious", right?
  9. Schlitten actually did some/a lot of those designs, at least he's credited. He was originally(?) a photographer by trade, iirc. Some, but not all. You gotta look at the fine print on one of the corners, usually. Like this one, down in the lower left, in teeny-tiny red print. Schlitten was sort of a one-man shop in many ways.
  10. Sirius only has one jazz channel? Granted, it's been years since I had it, but they used to have, like, a big band station, a fusion station, a smooth jazz station, stuff like that. Enough that hwen on sucked, there were other options. "Turning the dial", like the old days, that's what car radio is all about, imo. That and ball games and crazyass preachers. Today they call it "channel surfing", although I've yet to get two girls for every boy. On Sirius, when I had it, he only thing I ever could listen to at any length was the OTR stations, do they still have that/those?
  11. sorry, but why was Ronnie Scott "mysterious"? Serious question.
  12. Madison Square God & The Fiery Pit (OST)
  13. If 40% of the women want 40% of the men, it should work out, right? But things never work out like that, do they...
  14. On the corner, not on the fence
  15. "I said if I'm in luck, I just might get picked up." Today, she was lucky. RIP and OMG what a life.
  16. Why do I have all this damn Miles Davis music cluttering up my house and my head anyway?
  17. Timothy Bottoms Tom Bottomore Ruth Wayne Buttomore
  18. He kept being interesting enough for a while, though. "Just The Two Of Us" was/is "our song" for my wife and myself, but after we got married, "That Girl" became "my song" for her. But that was on a greatest hits type album, and the next thing I knew it was all Ebony & Ivory and I just called to say I love you, and I finally said, hell, if he don't care, I ain't gonna care either. But damn, you know that feeling that good things are going to keep happening because so far they have been, that's a GOOD feeling
  19. https://digitallibrary.tulane.edu/islandora/object/tulane:vernonwinslow I did not find this, I'm just passing it on. But please, check it out, it's quite possibly worth your time. Maybe this link will work better: https://digitallibrary.tulane.edu/islandora/object/tulane%3Avernonwinslow WWEZ
  20. A very bittersweet listen 45 years later. The optimism that virtually poured out of every second has proven to be, if not misplaced, definitely lost in today's reality. Also, geez, Stevie was a sappy SOB when he wanted to be, and at the time it didn't really matter (at least to me), because there was so much other stuff coming out of him. But that kinda stopped too after Secret Life. Seemed like the rejection of that one (unwarranted, imo) stung him and he pulled back a bit going forth. Still, the punches that he does land are all knockouts, and today I find myself oddly (enough) drawn to the EP cut "Easy Going Evening". Didn't see that one coming! Humanity is all but doomed, but for those of us who were alive when it's wasn't a foregone conclusion, it's nice to be reminded of what - maybe - could have been if we had made different collective decisions. But we didn't.
  21. If that's all they're truly capable of, then good riddance to bad rubbish. somehow I don't think that it is, but...
  22. I like the movies that end and then stay ended.
