Sorry, misspoke. Design, not packaging. That cover design, I thought that was Mosaic's. -
Willing to bet that Mingus had them, or at least quality copies.

Frankie Jo Blonder - Live at the Kattobi Broadcasting Station (Vol. 3) If the first two aren't any better than this, I'm not bothering to look for them. Surely there's better talent than this in Montana. But maybe not?

Do you have somebody handy who also has a BT headset? Because if it does or does not do the same thing on theirs, that should be how you isolate the source, if not necessarily the actual root cause.

So, Herb died (RIP; But WTF is THIS?
JSngry replied to JSngry's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
No, I think it's some AI generated headline service, seriously. Not concerned with it, just curious, because WKRP still has a following, it's a recognizable quantity. "Kattobi Broadcasting Station"...something went wrong there, and it didn't involve dropping live turkeys out of a helicopter! Looking up "Katobi" alone gives no clear indicator as to meaning, but it does link to gaming, maybe? But nothing really specific. Point just being, apart from Herb RIP (and yes, sincerely), how is this one pooch-screwed headline getting out to American/Englsih "news" outlets? Is there no QC going on? Really? That's kinda scary. Already fewer in the PM than there ws this AM, but still...Is "news" that easily slipped through? -

But "Kattobi Broadcasting Station"? Huh? Pretty much everybody loves and respects WKRP. -

You Know What's Harder To Do Than You Might Think?

Nah, my wife is in the habit of leaving the door open whenever she or the dog goes out back, which of course lets the flys in. So today, there were, like 4-5 flying around at once and she was all, like, get the fly swatter and kill these flys, will you? and I was like, ok, today's not the day for that, your doors open, your flys, YOU get the fly swatter. So, she gets to swinging, THINKS she gets one or two down, and did get one, but then the 2nd one pops back up and she gets all OHHHHH, and then here comes another one up in her face, and that was it, time for an evilass Bluto laugh. And I did my best, even adjusted diaphragm and larynx to fill it up andrough it up, but no dice. Just tried it again when the back door was open AGAIN and I asked her, what, were you born in a barn? oh, THAT'S RIGHT you were born in West Virginia, you probably were (failed Bluto laugh AGAIN!!!) I should probably be thankful that I didn't get it right, because she's watched enough Popeye to know what a real one would sound like, and a real one would probably piss her off and then I would have to reconsider the whole strategy...- 18 replies

Mosaic Masters After They Go Out of Print

Sure looks like Qobuz is legit, but how do they get the files? Do they pay in advance for a set # of hits, or do they have an open-ended thing where periodically they go over the books and pay the rights holders per download, or, just what exactly? Because somebody on their end has made the calculation that they can get $X of gross receipts and that they wil have $Y profit after expenses. Maybe Qobuz has determined that some things just aren't worth it, as have the asset owners. Old people usually don't stream or download (at least the old people on this forum) and how many teenage youths of any age are there wanting this stuff in a high quality, especially since there's been so much "settling" over the last few decade or two with all the PD "options" and needle drops and stuff? I totally get the frustration with the unavailability of so much cultural heritage, but I also get the bottom line(s) at stake here. This shit...really, if a company has no intention of releasing it, they should be given a viable incentive (such as, say, a reprieve from one email from one guy every five years or so, LOL)to give it to the Smithsonian. Them are tax dollars I don't mind being spent! Hell, set up a new branch specifically for this purpose. Screw wasteful bureaucracy, all things being equal, "government efficiency" is bullshit anyway, I want service, not savings, and I'm willing to pay for it. It seems clear that the revolution of recording now has reached a point where the cultural hard drive is going to have to be erased to clear space. So...unless and until a plan is reached for removable drives for archives, we're on our own to get what we can, how we can. We see who the players are, and we see who among them are not going to help us, ethically, anyway (this race to the bottom crap is entirely preventable if we want it to be). so...no excuses, just reality. Proceed accordingly. -

Growing the audience is not a consideration. Containing the audience is where it's at. No different that anything else in the current social landscape, really. You will want what they give you because they give you what they want you to want. And if they get it wrong the first time, don't worry, they'll keep trying until they get it right. But NEVER will you be encouraged to want something that they are not wanting you to have. You're on your own for that shit. -
