  3. I have a fondness for the earlier Muse records, where he was playing with a lot of different forms and instrumentations. When he became a "piano trio guy"....always great playing, but not always the delight of surprise (for me). Still, one of the greats in the idiom, and he can always up the game of any record he's on, especially as an accompanisit.
  4. Not as frisky as you might expect, so adjust expectations accordingly and then there's some enjoyment to be had.
  5. Delli, Billi, and Tiddle - The New Boy! Tiddle was Delli's son (see previous record). Apparently Danni got so enthralled at the notion of Delli's motherhood that she retired from the music business to start a family of her own. This nearly broke up the band...until it was discovered that Tiddle (at age 4!) had perfect pitch and an intuitive understanding of lyrics in seven different languages. Thus this record in which Delli & Billi limit themselves to backing Tiddle, who extolls a son's love of mother in all seven languages, 14 songs in all, one fast and zippy, the other slow and sentimental. Hopes for international stardom did not come to fruition, but this is very much the cult record today.

  7. From up to 3 years, so...after that, you're on your own.
  8. That guy was a classic example of WTF????? I mean, can't fault a man for trying, but...so good at first and then...

Wal-Mart is price matching AND offering a Protection Plan!!!!! https://www.walmart.com/ip/12-Comp-zim-2017-Blu-ray/597941265?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&&adid=22222222227000000000&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=42423897272&wl4=pla-51320962143&wl5=9026802&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=online&wl12=597941265&veh=sem&gclid=CjwKCAjwt8uGBhBAEiwAayu_9UoDJ23HxVAoRLBqjl9W4XWbMYaPsNrFyK3R2gm08SQXKdhYVsorNhoCFxcQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
  10. Well now! Good lookin' out!
  11. Oh yeah, those...between that one and "Daddy"...I could forget about the god ones, where they are. "Meaning Of The Blues" is a great song, either sung or played! Best Kenton record ever?
  12. Rightly or wrongly, the first thing I think of when I hear the name, are these (because that's the first time I heard the name):
  13. Well, I don't like to hear this news. RIP.
  14. Nope, it JUST expired!
  15. I did think of "Early Autumn". I also like a song with a tag built into it as part of the recurring structure that's actually "necessary", and not just a gimmick. What other above-average Bobby Troup songs are there? Can't say that I've really dug deep into his catalog.
  16. He painted his own picture.
  17. Danni & Billi - It's A Boy! The twosome wanted to make a record to show their love for Delli, who gave birth after becoming pregnant and having a boy before they could make the record together. Such joy they bring to the proceedings!
  18. SO much gets by me...I have a wheelhouse or two, but outside of that...clueless, and happy to learn because of it.
  19. Sustainably listenable.
  20. Here's a great Bobby Troup song that never gained traction as a "standard"...I don't understand that, except maybe too much harmonic movement for civilians
  21. Danni, Delli, & Billi - Some More For The Boys!!!
  22. I think it's probably an intrinsically vocal song, definitely not a jam ditty, but... there's something there for a carefully considered instrumental exposition, I think...way over my head to do that, but if you can do it, please do!
  23. Thanks for that, David. Appreciate it, a bit of faith restored!
  24. I love how this is happening. God's work continues.
