  1. Still spry! So is this a solo record, trio, larger ensemble? I like how the program is not set to "standards" you to death.
  2. Skittles! For dinner!
  3. But impulses can make a person do things they don't remember.
  4. Solo piano? How old is this guy now?
  5. I've always liked her voice. Those samples don't sound bad at all. I don't know that I'd have a patience for an entire album's worth, though. Where is radio when you need it?
  6. The program seems just a wee bit spotty, but it's always a pleasure to hear that band from that time...CHARACTER!
  7. For all the civilians in the house, this is a joke, don't take it seriously..
  8. Right, you know/can tell the difference. But would Wynton? He's been so cock-damn-sure over the years that everything he does is right that I've heard no real growth or appreciation of nuance. And I do not know why my phone made "Terrence" into "Teranova". That's just bizarre.
  9. How would you be able to yell? It would likely sound the same either way. It's not like he's Terranova Blachard...
  10. Hats? Have you looked under all the hats?
  11. Quite the point! I don't mind listening to things I don't like, bot boring is often the worst offense of them all. That and overly-celebrated unmoderated vulgarity. Cecil, otoh, there are no bad Cevil Taylor records, and even fewer boring ones.
  12. I don't have 100% confidence in Discogs for showing all Japanese issues. I just don't. Other places I looked showed no trace either, but I thought I remembered a little flurry of AT LAST!!!! at one point. But perhaps not.
  13. I thought Japan, but cannot confirm? No matter, great record.
  14. So, no cats?
  15. Is this a different record than this? https://www.allmusic.com/album/sings-bobby-troup-mw0000596165 I've long felt that "You're Looking At Me" is a standard sorely in need of being standard-ed. What a great song, in every regard!
  16. 14 TRACKS WRITTEN BY THE LIKES OF BRIAN WILSON, FRANK SINATRA, JOHN COLTRANE, NICK DRAKE, RAY DAVIES AND MORE No doubt!!!
  17. “I was sitting on the edge of my bed in the dark, crying from listening to this song” - Edward Norton No doubt!!!!!
  18. Getting boring in a hurry...
  19. Live recordings, with and without Dolphy on board, yes.
  20. Has anybody really, really analyzed/broken this album down in terms of musical/lyrical thematic development/continuity? Seems like there's a real "concept album", or even an actual by-god "suite" to be had here, maybe. Stepney taking Bacharach seriously as musical inspiration, not just commercial motivation (the irony is all too real). Can you imagine the sessions for this record? November 24-26, 1969, three days to get this made. Skills!
  21. Nostalgia is ephemeral, skills are forever. and Charles Stepney was a baaaaaaaaaaaaaad man!
  22. I used to enjoy drinking while playing music. For listening, I preferred non-alcoholic moodifications. Nowadays, hey, straight, sober, and boring.
