  1. The Center is the Secret. I wonder who the hand model for that ad was. Some things are lost to history, I suppose.

I don't understand why you would want to bow a tuba, or how you could? At least not in any traditional sense. Please advise.
  3. It's says it's a country record, have you tried Bakersfield?
  4. Check it out - that psychedlic WPJ cover is not that far off! Buster Williams: Fucking Marshall Royal. Fucking Lockjaw Davis. DUDE!!!! Richard Bock missed his chance with Chet: Her Nibs (no relation to Terry) Oh shit! My god, there have been a LOT of versions of this song, this is tip of the iceberg, including THE original (is IT on 78?):
  5. I just got to this (the app), SO easy to install and use! What's a good "modern classical" station(s)? I'll gladly include "new music" in that description.

No, music is too big for that! Besides, it's a violin, not a tuba!

  8. Yeah, you'd think. But estates can be funny sometimes. And somebody has to want to license it to begin with. I don't know how many "friends in the record business" that Max left behind, other than Bruce Lundvall? And I'm not 100% sure about the ownership thing. 98%, probably, but that's not 100%
  9. and of course... But the very best version ever (and this is non-negotiable) is Sinatra/Jobim How he gets into that first bridge is magic, and I do not believe in magic. But oh well. The second bridge is just greatness, but that first one is magic.
  10. And iirc, Max licensed it to Columbia and retained the rights afterwards. I might be wrong about that, but that's what I remember.

Hard for me to imagine Jackie McLean wanting an un-jellied group, but who knows?
  14. The Model for 'Poteet Canyon' Stays Deep in the Heart of Texas https://people.com/archive/the-model-for-poteet-canyon-stays-deep-in-the-heart-of-texas-vol-10-no-8/ Just when you think you're all developed about the interconnectedness of life and all that shit, BAM, something like this pops up.
  15. Are you looking for volunteer help with this? If not, I know a person or two who might be able to help to some degree. PM me if you'd prefer, as I can make no promises about it.

I just don't feel the jelling of the group. Nothing more than that.
  17. Vol 4 coming once Oumuamua gets here.

    Don Sleet

Did you obtain it from Sleet or one of his buddies himself? Just wondering if there's a pattern to any of this newly discovered evidence.

I can truthfully say that for me there is no Blue Note Jackie McLean record that isn't a "stone gas" (pardon my aging vernacularism) other than 'Bout Soul. And I really, really want to like that one, just can't get there with that. Other than Miles/Columbia, what other single label has so vividly an artist's "journey" (pardon my contemporaneous vernacularism) over such a relatively lengthy period? Perhaps a "rhetorical question" (pardon my rhetorical vernacularism), but really, that's the exception that proves the rule, if indeed it does.
