Yeah, and if all we get out of legal weed is this kind of video game-ish thinking about baseball, never mind!

Sun Ra "Monorails and Satellites Vols. 1, 2 and 3"
JSngry replied to soulpope's topic in New Releases
I'd just like to know what is "too much" weirdness. Is it like Capsaicin, where you know it when you get it, but otherwise, who knows, could be anywhere, just have fun finding out and live to tell the tale? -
And it seems crazy now, if you're still playing the game as throw the ball/hit the ball/catch the ball/run the bases zen-ish simplicity that it actually is. But you know, crazy people in crazy times gonna do crazy shoot and be hailed as "transformational", and yeah, hello suckers.

Sun Ra "Monorails and Satellites Vols. 1, 2 and 3"

Hope you're not being affected by the shutdown, but if you are, you can go to work for Dusty Groove wring their blurbs, i mean, no interview needed! -
Skills, FTW! I mean, for real, everybody's all jumpy about how hitters today go for the wall or not at all and nobody knows how to bunt or go the other way, all all that, etc. and that's totally legit, but you know, look at our culture in general - bling power all that, is it any wonder? Well ok, pitching, same thing. Finesse is too much work even if you DO think about it, but in a world wherethose things are hardly even though on, much less engaged in, hey, bionic bullshit is what you ask for, bionic bullshit is what you gonna get. Money talks, bullshit listens. Greg Maddux - not a lot of mystery there, motherfucker had a skill set and worked on it until he mastered it. You want effortless mastery, don't go to Kenny Werner, you, you go to Gregg Maddux. And ok, lets talk about using a different pitcher every inning. Am I the only one who looks at the simple math of that, says what can possibly go wrong, and then realize that they haven't made that big enough of a number yet? In a perfect world, I'm going to need nine pitchers on my staff to go 162 inning a year and to what real end? Sounds like stunt porn to me.

What's the difference between a sopranino sax and a soprano sax?

That in and of itself is no big deal...

Ok, then, right click on the drive, selexct properties, and then hit the "Hardware" tap and see if it says "This Device Is Working Properly" That base-level tropubleshoioting. Past that, there are a lot of Windows troubleshooting tool that you you do, but I'm afraid I 'd not be the pone to responsibly guide you through any of them. There's still the old Device Manager inside Control Panel, where you can right click on each drive and take a look there. But I generally don't go there unless accompanied by a geek.

Does Canada have legal sports betting, like can you formally/legally wager on CFL games?? Serious inquiry.

That must be an Apple thing? I've never experienced that phenomena with Windows. And based on that, I would proffer the possibility that the drive was not installed correctly, either not securely, or at all. Or something. The drive itself could very well be faulty. Windows should show that drive as being there. Don't know where you bought this machine and/or who you get to do your service, but I would try taking that optical drive out altogether, reboot, power off, put it back in, and then reboot. If you don't feel comfortable doing this yourself, have somebody who is (and who is not looking to cop a fee) do it for you. Make sure everything is tight, all contacts, shoulldn't be any wiggel-waggle. When you reboot, the OS should detect the device and then do whatever configuration is necessary. Plug & Play, it's pretty much a reality these days.

What Classical Music Are You Listening To?
JSngry replied to StarThrower's topic in Classical Discussion
wow...I had a high school math teacher who go go there with math, but if there were any music faculty who could do that, I didn't have them. Quite possibly my fault, but still...people like this are our true heroes. and he had a radio show too!!!!! -
I am Android, all the way.

What does a sideways optical drive look like on the tower/case/whatever? Serious question.

Not on my particular Roku app. Granted, my roku is an older one, so maybe that's it. But I recently updated my phone, and the Tune In app there wanted to charge a monthly fee straight out the gate. I ain't got time for all that. It's a phone, and I got records. I'll look for Raydio on my Roku and, maybe, on my phone.

Yeah, at that price, you're paying for a portrait when a postcard would likely suffice. But let me say this - Bob Moses plays really well on this one. I can understand that Jack DeJohnette was in front of a line of which it was unlikely to ever get to the front, but In a parallel universe (or on some lost Big Fun era session), Moses might have made an interesting addition to, say, the Black Beauty type music.

Ok, "Side 2" sounds only just a little better, because the Rhodes(?) gives a sonic anchor (or something like that). But it still sounds, basically, like a bunch of guys practicing for Miles' gig, should the call come.

A weird film, shot in Germany, all of the voices were overdubbed posty-production, so you miss Lee's tones. BUT - he does a very good job with the role physically, so good that his voice is not really missed once it gets going. Not the best Holmes film ever, but not the worst either. It's a good tale well-enough (for me) told. And it's always a treat (of sorts) to see Leon Askin.

Yes, the Yankees pretty much sucked in those years, I remember it well. But I like that he liked to take home movies, like Bob Crane and other famous celebrities. I wonder if they still exist?

I've started on Hino's Journey To Air today and...seriously? Other than Bob Moses, I hear little music and quite a lot of "free jazz" gestures, like ok, this is the time for this, so let's do it, and then what happens? Ok, we've done this. Then what? Maybe if I had heard it in its time I'd have warm fuzzies for it today. But I didn't. And...I don't. All of the motion, none of the meat, and Bullmoose Jackson to the contrary, I like both. Togehter. In the same place. At the same time.
