Blue Note Reissues for 2008...
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez replied to mgraham333's topic in Re-issues
am i wrong in thinking that the Bn master tapes contain all the alternate takes....if the bn disgcog. says, for example, one sone reached take 41, does that mean theres 40 more versions of cornbread on the tape? for example? -

Blue Note Reissues for 2008...
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez replied to mgraham333's topic in Re-issues
blue note will never reissue the session material we all want to hear. think how many alternate takes there are on those tapes of our favorite blue note pieces. someday, someone will copy them all just like they did in the 80s with the beach boys capitol session tapes, and in the uk in 1982or3 at abbey road with the beatles tapes. in fact i think this already has happneed to a smaller extent. am i wrong in thinking the session tapes contain all the alternate takes? -
a horrible tragedy for bebop. i just played his connection snd'trk on charlie parker records. that isinteresting he was w/ machito. maybe thats why KD used him on his Afro-Cuban lp!

Stravinsky's Rite Of Spring
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez replied to HolyStitt's topic in Classical Discussion
ok ok i just have to comment, you know how the common jazz musican 101 dogma has been like how jazz musicans really dig on stravinsky, which i think stemmed from bird liking him, etc....anyways you know how the common dictum is like jazz cats are "hip" to stravinsky when it comes to classical? well chewy's here to tell you that thats all f'ing bullshit. all these cats who tell me: stravinskys can be jazzy. they are so full of it. Tchaikovsky's melodies have twice as much to do with jazz than stravinskys. tchaikovsky is better, i dont care what you guys say -
hey u guys! sorry i haven't been posting much, but hey, if u guys didn't hear, chewy got one of them new fast computers!!! yea, organissimo no longer crashes my browser! lol- anyways theres four trillion northern soul blogs, which is great, but what about jazz? im sure you guys know what the best ones are, can you point me in the right direction? thanks!
