brownie-chunks: yea RCA never put any useful info on their lps! they were all pizzazz with the covers but zero info w/ the liners! is that cause even though they recorded some good west coat jazz, they are still a big corporate label that sucks? im pretty skeptical about this lp, in the soundclips, i already could tell it does not match up with Duke's version, which I LOVE. Regarding the reworkings of the melodies, i do not know if that sits well with me--- HOWEVER I STILL WANT TO LISTEN TO IT JUST TO HEAR THE VARIOUS WCJ SAX PLAYERS SOLO OVER THE CHANGES. but i do not know if they melodies on this lp stand up the same way as duke's arragements led to. You guys know i have the largest collection of nutcracker lps than any of u guys here, you knew that, right? I probably have 75, some dating back to the 20s.

tubes are resilient. all this hullaballoo about their shortcomming is overstated. chewy has tubes in his hammond, never once replaced one, and ive had it for seven and a half years and bashed the hell out of it and moved it 360 degress backwards on its bottom end and in a F150 on the freeway upside down strapped down to a rack and all this shit and the tubes are better than ever. i also have tubes in my 50s model (metal cased) wurlitzer and they ain't gone out none never

lol oh hell yes it is: shelly's manne hole! we were walkin' buy and all of a sudden, instead of the print shop/check cashin' place or whatever, it was all open and shit and under construction--- and i was all: what the fuck? so i go in and meet the owner guy, he is turning it into a trendy bar, but he knows about how it used to be shellys manne hole, and he wants to incorporate some of that into the bar, like photos of shellys manne hole and stuff like that. i told him hell yea. i told him that he should have a 6-cd changer in the club with nothing but bob cooper cds. do u guys see the brick wall? thats the original shellys manne hole brick wall- i was suprised to see its still there, i thought w/ the new facade they re did it all----! -
