  4. Jimmy Rowles played piano, Bud Shank played alto sax, Med Flory and Bill Perkins handled the saxes, Al Porcino, Stu Williamson and Jack Sheldon were on trumpets, Frank Rosolino played trombone, Billy Piyman strummed guitar, Joe Mondragon plucked bass, and Mel Lewis played drums well i do already have the .jpg of the cover, but if i buy the record i think ill also have to get Tina Louise meets Coleman Hawkins............
  5. guy @ street faire has beat up mono copy for 12 big ones: the personel is w.c.j. balls to the wall, but whats the verdict on this one? is this essential west coast jazz?

  11. Chuck-Chuck Union Pacific Railroad driver man: why dont u just "cut & paste" your soundscan data on Organissimo for us to view? or would that make the soundscan crew have a shit-hemmaorage? im telling u man one day you should just tell 'em all 2 go to hell.
  12. u guys are all out of your gourds: the rajah is a standout cause the 1st two tracks are both about 15 min long and feature extended solos from lee and hank. both songs are some of the best they recorded- the 1st being a cal massey tune the 2nd being the awesome title cut by lee-- throw in a duke pearson song and a bossa nova and you have one of the best bn albums ever.
  13. July 8, 2007 Dear Boots Randolph, I just can't take this anymore...... Signed, Chewy
  14. u are out of your gourd, Hank takes 2 really awesome extended solos and plays his balls off

  17. ok you guys all HAVE TO see this: do a youtube search for "Mobile gold" you need to see two 1:15 videos in the following order: (both links are on that 1st page) the 1st one is a min. clip of a news b'cast, about 2 yrs old, in Mobile, ALA. the 2nd clip is a rap video which is a re-edit of the b'cast video + a song about whats happening in the video
  18. re/ the fender bass, yes these records are sonically unique in that no other wcj was using an elec. bass, LET ALONE that w/ such clean sound such as that which is found on the p.j. and wpj lps------ they singlehandly altered the sonic fabric that which is wcj without making it swing less, like what happend later on when elec. basses were more freq. used-- it was cool to play more funky, or in weird, swing un-friendly time signatures (don ellis: the 'chick corea' of west coast jazz?)
  19. grrrrrrr i was busy downloading 1960s polorid .jpgs of naked redheads doing unspeakable acts and **I** have to stop dead in my tracks to yell at you guys about how much the MASTERSOUNDS rock my sox. ON JAZZLAND, FAIR, NOT POOR, BUT MAYBE "FAIR+" CONDITION!!!!!!! but does this count as a Mastersounds record, no? what other mastersounds lps do you guys recommend on pacific jazz? all of them, right? just so you guys know my friend Jay, AKA "DB4EVA" has declared this Sunday "international west coast jazz day" where w.c.j. is played all day long. i told him he is out of his gourd
