  1. ps- they didnt have chron classics in stock,-- had to order it. if anyone has a used copy of big band modern they dont need, lemme know- chewy dont "do" amazon!
  2. 1st off silver patters the huge cd store around here doesnt even have BIG BAND MODERN in their system, and they DO stock other jazzfactory releases---- but they did have the Chron. Classics one--- do these two cds overlap in material at all? the guy on the phone told me it is chron classis 1930 something to early 1940 something-- i didnt even know GW was recording in the 30s-- is this just a sideman date for him, or does this cd feature GW big band arrangements, etc.....does anyone have any track info for the Chron Classics one?
  3. Sorry Alfredo, but the new forum blows: its like what happened when they changed the BNBB all up-- it doesnt crash my browser, but now it asks for my password everytime i go on, and doesnt save my cookies or something. the old look was way better too. Chewy says: REISSUE THE OLD ORGANSISSMO board
  4. ugh! i need big band modern-- ive like never seen that one in the stores.......do u have another copy of it for sale

  6. this 2 lp set is heavy balls, balls-balls heavy: it is so cool. wilton felder on pass, arr. by monk higgins, is his other post CTI stuff this good? i am so happy i bought this. the 1st two songs are the funkiest, the rest is kind of poppy/mellow. they even cover let it be.
  7. the drummer doubled on F. horn, playing it simotaneosly (sic) w/ the hi-hat, the bass was the other member of the trio. they played originals, as well as A Call for all demons by sun ra, 2 ornette tunes incl. lonely woman, a tune by someone named henry thredgill or something, and the best was a piece which was variations on the lines of cheryl, then into au privave-- on that one bill smith dismantled his clairnet and put one mouthpiece on the bottom 1/2, and then played the top half and the bottom half at the same time, george braith-style--- it was so good
  8. this lost reel, its gonna be a new sun ra cd every month for the next two years....so awesome

NOW ORNETTE IS GOING TO DIE OVER THIS. THIS IS WORSE THAN AMHET ERTUGUN DYING AT THE STONES CONCERT
  19. the alto player kind of sounds like bird-- who is he? what is this lp? do any of you have it? some dude just have it to me at the street faire, i think its worth 500 million big ones. Side A is compeletly shitmangled, has like paint of lacquer or something all over it, but side b is okay, isnt this a real rare one?
  20. i got the odonell levy solo lp for .99 cents somewhere- its not as good as you would expect
  21. ok 1st of jan hammer is far from the worlds greatest synth player- he takes the exact same solo over every song. patrick moraz or even deodato could play circles around him in the same context/ regarding YES, certain members did speak very highly of their interest in mahavishnu, but yes were doing their own thing and werent really "influenced" by them so to speak, their repsective passed actually only crossed only four times, the 1st being 11-28-71, in NY on a bill with mahaivishunu and the kinks/ 8-11-72 in akron w/ mahivinu and the EAGLES 9-2-72 in london w/ m.o and gary wright and finally the last time was early on in the on the relayer tour 12-2-74, at the houston astrodome of all places
