JAM SESSION record No. 101
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez replied to chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez's topic in Artists
as for as no. 103 goes, i know about this: Various Artists - The West Coast Jam Sessions (Jam Session 103) Chet Baker (tp) Sonny Criss (as) Wardell Gray, Dave Pell (ts) Jerry Mandell (p) Harry Babasin (cello) Bob Whitlock (b) Lawrence Marable (d) "Trade Winds Club", Inglewood, CA, March 24, 1952 Out of Nowhere but whats the rest of the lp?? also my 101 lp has OUT OF NOWHERE as well-- but i did not see that listed on any of the disgog.'s as part of the xanadu version of the 1952 haig date-- i gotta listen 2 itto see if its the same version as on 103, which would be good..... -
one of the lps offered on that depot site is al haig live in hollywood- all i could find in the sonny criss discog. was this: Al Haig Live in Hollywood (Xanadu 206) Chet Baker (tp) Ted Ottison (tp -3) Sonny Criss (as) Jack Montrose (ts) Al Haig (p) Dave Bryant (b) Larry Bunker (d) "Trade Winds Club", Inglewood, CA, August 4, 1952 1. There Will Never Be Another You 2. How High the Moon 3. Sweet Georgia Brown is the rest a trio session?

1) lady bird/out of nowhere 2) keen and peachy/donna lee the cover is the weirdest cover ive ever seen- i cant even explain it- the back has a header of NOTES AND REMINDERS and the rest is blank...save at the bottom: distib. ray lawerence ltd PO box 1987, Studio city calif 91604--- haig club, sept 9 52 1/2 the session is the last session on the last cd of the PROPER wardell box-- now i have more from it---- has anyone seen this?!? its so weird

yea that would of been better! -
any of you watch? 1st, ornette went up w/ natalie cole (who must of stopped smoking crack, she looked pretty decent) , and they announced his lifetime award, and then he gave a grammy to carrie underwood (who actually was pretty good). but it was a very surreal moment. THEN LATER THE RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS CAME ON, AND THEY HAD A GIANT SPRAYPAINTED BANNER ON STAGE: LOVE TO ORNETTE COLEMAN did any of you see that part, towards the very end????
-
so i picked up tryin to get home for only 12 big ones (80s lp reissue) havent played it yet but the liners say, at the very end: db is currently working on a composition for the Detroit Symphony, and also one for a symphony in Switzerland. HAVE ANY OF YOU EVER HEARD OF THESE PIECES, ARE THEY RECORDED, OR EVEN REMEMEBERED, OR EVEN ACTUALLY COMPLETED???
-
yes i have to get it for the bennie--- but i also want im just tryin to get home i also want Stan T: the Look of love- see im fillin in all the little holes in my BN collection
-
re: the silver////remember we were talking about this a few wks ago- i had never ever seen this one b4 but i saw on youtube this clip of the maupin/cobbam band that was SMOKIN-- so its a straight hard bop date? whats the tracklist-- cduniverse lists no songs yet...no samples either
-
I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOURE TALKING ABOUT. a lot of time w/ 70s jaz i cant stand listening to non fusion based jazz recordings cause of that, eg. art pepper and his west coast friends boxed set
-
West coast jazz list? can you please post the info on how to join? i want to become a life long member!
-
w/ art farmer, bud shank, frankie rosolino, shelly manne, pete jolly IS THIS WEST COAST JAZZ?? it was 18 bucks disc. to six, then further disc to only 2 big ones! see i had self control and waited and i was rewarded. this was recorded in LA, right? w/ art farmer and gerry i was skeptical since they both completely sold out and recorded in NY but then theres bud and frankie and pete jolly so i thought id take a chance--- are any of u familar w/ this release?
