  1. I was going to mention that tomorrow will be the last two days of Champions league action. Guess you beat me to it. Among the other games to follow. Shalke-Rosenborg will fight for the last spot in their group. Both games of the C group will be meaningful. Even Lazio has an outside chance, for my part i will be pulling for Bremen to get the away win and qualify. Wednesday another French team will have to fight another UK team to get through the next round when Lyon will make the trip to Scotland to play the Rangers. In the group G Fenerbahce and PSV will play while still having an eye on the scoreboard as they both will play teams that have already their fate decided. The teams already through for the knockout round are Chelsea, AC Milan, Celtic, Barça, Roma, MU, Inter, Sevilla, Arsenal. The three main league have already a strong representation, will some smaller sides survive the next few days ?
  2. Check back through the Patriot schedule this year and you'll find that many of the teams played terribly after losing to the Patriots. It's as if their spirits had been broken. I include the Colts in that category. They lost to San Diego after losing to the Patriots. The only team which didn't seem devastated was Dallas, who seemed to get even better afterwards. Good point, generally it's a good betting tip to bet against a team that lost his previous game in a heartbreaking fashion.
  3. Interesting lineup, very few guys i'm familiar in this group. Some name are ringing a distant bell but besides Varner i'd be hard pressed to figure out which instrument these guys are playing.
  4. Can't beleive this is the same Ravens team that has almost beaten the Patriots last week.
  5. Piece 9, Not as much fun as the previous one but still very good, great sound, nice interaction between the band. I'd like to single out someone in the band but they sound all great to me.
  6. Piece 8. This piece i like a lot, great groovy bass line to start the tune and the horns roam free telling their musical story while still swinging. Two thumbs up from this reviewer.
  7. Piece 6, like the instrumentation but for whatever reason the piece never shifts gears, so any excitation you have listening to it basically disolves. A little dissapointing. Piece 7, Good but not great music, cute but a a little too conventional and straight ahead for my tastes, liked the sax.
  8. Piece number 5 interesting contrast duet between a soft piano tune and a drummer that pulls all the stunts. An ECMish piece. Not bad but not convinced yet. Wonder if the drummer keeps going this way in the rest of the session
  9. I find it extremely lame that the host of a forum would get punished for what one of the members of that board are writing on the board. Do you stop buying the newspaper because the letters to the editor have opinions that differ from yours. Maybe you should have a warning that says the opinions written on this board do not reflect in any shape or form those by the Organissimo band.
  10. Buddy Rich Max Roach Ryan Kisor couldn't find on the top of my head a drummer named Ryan

  12. Roger Moore Sean Connery Pierce Brosnan
  13. Richard Martin René Robert Gilbert Perreault The French Connection
  14. Piece 4, it reminds a lot of Carlo Actis Dato stuff, very energitic with great soling. Definitively would buy the CD.
  15. Piece number 3, at first i thought it would be a Hat kind like of duet but the music became a lot more dense and it had some kind of emergency like they were running out of time. The piece ended up abruptly like at the end of a concert. Like a lot the sax player, my favourite piece so far. I' d wish they could have extrapolated more their ideas.
  16. How about using PM if you resent a remark instead of derailing even more the thread. Maybe for those who take that seriously their threads and don't want any joking of any kind could add to the title (No humor is allowed in that thread or something along the lines) I kind of understand why it would irritate people to see non sequitur comments but don't see the point to get worked over like that.
  17. Taking a page out of pro sports league, how about naming the best performers we saw live in 2007 to create the ultimate 2007 band by naming a performer per instrument . The idea is not to make a cohesive orchestra but rather to showcase who gave us thrills in flesh and blood. So here's my All Star team Alto sax Rod Brown Tenor Sax Wayne Shorter Trumpet Roy Hargrove Flute Nicole Mitchell Guitar Bill Frisell Vibraphone Jason Adamsiewicz Bass William Parker Drums Hamid Drake Piano Stefano Bollani Vocals Mina Agossi Best jazz concert Wayne Shorter Quartet and Imani Winds. Best non jazz concert Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings Best concert (foreign language) Pierre Lapointe et l'Orchestre Métropolitain Among the closest races at alto David Binney deserves a mention, same thing on piano seeing Craig Taborn show his chops in two different settings. Good hand also for Adam Rogers and Chris Potter. So what was your 2007 best ?
  18. Ryne Sandberg Joe Morgan Rogers Hornsby
  19. Steve Young Jim McMahon Ty Detmer
  20. Going through my Pullen Select, only had a CD of him in a trio, so far i like George Adams input in the quartet.
  21. I'm single but i flirt with married women.
  22. You have touched on a few of the reasons I included this track. As you mention, some of the playing is simplistic and not very original, but the track has a groove that really got in my head and stuck. Not knowing the players involved, were they dumbing down the licks to get a frendlier more accessible piece of music or are they that rudimentary ?
  23. Song number 2, very festive song, almost ska like msuic the melody reminds me a little bit of the stuff that Mano Negra usedto do especially with the latino percussions, almost expected a young Manu Chao singing over it. Great music to wake up to especially if you're a fireman who has been called on duty.
  24. I can relate to what Brownie is going through, i basically cut ties from a board where i used to be almost 24 hours a day there and obviously posted a lot. Felt i had given what i had to give and it was time to move on to do something else. So, as one of the frenchies of this board, i'll join the chorus of people who will miss him at the same time i wish him the best and may he find the most pleasurable things to do in life. Here's for you, buddy. Adriana says good luck
