Agreed for Barney @ Camarillo (IMO Dodo steals the show, anyway). Another Barney Kessel's summit is on "Lighthouse at Laguna" : an incredible "Round about midnight". Heard it a hundred times, but give me thrills each time i listen to it.
-
Agreed : very interesting record.

they'd do limited edition boxed sets of 45 rpms, of course.

Something french in the Doo Bop vein :

"She's over 18" ? If you refer to her age, that's a relief : Berlusconi will not be interested.

When i read it, i definitely think that you are the Captain, MG. I'm only the Co pilot

Is this true? I always thought that New Jazz handled the more "out" jazz while Prestige handled the more "mainstream" jazz. Correct me if I'm wrong. You are correct. Right, but the New Jazz was not the budget label. (Athough the questionnable quality of the last New Jazz could make us think about cheap reissues hissssssssssssssssssssssssssss)

Right, and especially with this one !

I don't even have a clue who's hair this is. the answer is I didn't know that Moondog was still alive.

I love those little stickers with name and adress on cover of LPs. I rarely remove them, exept if thaty are on front cover. I recently bought record from Holland : various dealer, but same collector, that used to wirte his name (E.T. Lettinga) and add some sentences : heres' one, on the back of The Happnins (New Jazz 8246) : "Rockers forbidden, except whenever this item leaves the shelf and except for Granville's spanish cohorts featured at ray Bryant's feelings" (Gnraville Rocker is the drummer of the session, his name is underlined on the credits) I also have many NM Blue Note from a mysterious "MD" stamped on back... This topic proves the evolution of the appreciation of records : in their times they were not collectors item, just someones personal objetcs. We collectors would like to find them immaculate, in other words, out of history and society, with no age. -

Jackie Mc Lean Capuchin' Swing BLP 4038 DG 47w label. I especially love the Walter Bishop trio rendition of "Don't Blame Me" on this album. A little trio excursus in a quintet session... and after that : Boz Scaggs "Silk Degrees" on ? too lazy to check. Love the cover and the mood of the record. Arranged by Marty Paich son David.

Porcy, we really have the same musical taste. The Willin' version of this one has an incredible piano solo by Bill Payne.

Yes the Atco is a bad pressing, full of noise and distortion.
-
Yes, I would, especially at that price; I usually like those Columbia Brubeck records. And Columbia six eyes LPs are finely made and have wonderful sound. This Tommy Turrentine album is a gem. It is a fine hard bop session.
