Clementine, you should have been a member of the Warren commission ! How do you know he wasn't? MG Because the Warren commission did not found who actually killed JFK
-
I bet you the reserve is more than 1,5 K, and this one goes for 3000

Well, i have made some bids on previous auction. But I will not bid again. Definitely fed up with this Blue Note mania. Prices are already on the Japanese scale : i'm laready off the game ! No regrets. -
Dave Holland "Conference of the Birds" Kenny Wheeler "Angel Song" Charles LLoyd "Canto" Terje Rypdal "After the Rain" Mal Waldron "free at Last" (#1001 !!)

wes montgomery lp - so much guitar - Question !
michel1969 replied to jbs-tom's topic in The Vinyl Frontier
Not so good, unfortunately. The vinyl is a bit noisy, which is very obvious as the music is relatively quite. I also have a stereo, black label copy (no DG), which sounds as bad as the mono. Not exactly Blue Note quality pressings (and recordings)! Well... its somewhat a relief...my DG copy is noisy, and looks mint. So if you have the same trouble i really think now its the pressing in itself... -
another babyface cover.
-
Good suggestion : its a splendid session, and apprently Japanese are not interested (hence price is less than 30). Anyway, this one is not the original with blue DG label, and a slightly diffrent logo on cover. But the sound of this one is correct.
-
My favorite ? No hesitation.

wes montgomery lp - so much guitar - Question !
michel1969 replied to jbs-tom's topic in The Vinyl Frontier
I Like Michel said, this is a difficult part in the Riverside catalogue. My copies of 376 (Bill Evans - Sunday at the Village Vanguard), 380 (The Trio), 381 (Elmo Hope - Homecoming), 383 (Sittin' in With Dick Morgan) are all without dg. On the other hand, most of the higher numbers are again with dg! You may have noticed also that 376 is often seen no DG white label, while DG version is often the regular blue label. Peter, how does sound your 376 no DG ? -
Yesterday night : Buddy Childers Quartet (Liberty Or DG mono) I love this one. Charlie Persip JSt / Howard Rumsey's LAS : Double or Nothin Liberty Or DG Mono Steve Kuhn Trio "Three Waves" Contact or DG Mono "Van Gelder" !! Now : Charlie Rouse "Yeah" Epic strobe Or DG Mono Billy Gardner !!!!!

Yes. And the madness is in the US apparently. Those sellers like Atomic have a rule to sell these kind of record : 1) set a very high reserve price (more than 2 k), 2) wait for the two (generally no more) bidders that will start the insane bidding, in the last minute. In this case 2000, 2200 and... suddenly 4000 ! (two times !), then almost 5000 !! . That works everytime time. You'll always find the wealthy hipster "i-want-this-record-no matter-what-price". Next time they'll set a reserve of 4000, and you'll have two guys fighting at 7000.... I suppose that those bidders are very proud of themsleves and think that they are serious and tasty collectors : "i bought a rare and fine record because i paid it a high price".

Among the Liberty era cover variations (were is the thread regaring this aspect ? did not found it) , this one reminds us a Paul Quinichette album on Prestige... http://cgi.ebay.com/LOU-DONALDSON-LP-SUNNY...1QQcmdZViewItem

wes montgomery lp - so much guitar - Question !
michel1969 replied to jbs-tom's topic in The Vinyl Frontier
There are two "gigantic" Wes recordings on Riverside : "The incredible jazz guitar" RLP 320, and "Full House" RLP 434. I suppose you already know and have them. In case not, you can jump on it !! -
wes montgomery lp - so much guitar - Question !
michel1969 replied to jbs-tom's topic in The Vinyl Frontier
So much guitar is RLP 382. In this part of the Riverside catalogue, it becomes complicated... I have a 380 promo white lbl without DG, but i know there are DG of this one. I have a 383 no DG promo white, never seen a DG (but may exist). I have a 384 DG, but have seen no DG. I think at this time, many Riverside were pressed DG and no DG at the same time (I have a 420 white promo DG, but have seen many no DG). So for your 382 Its hard to tell whether its original or not considering the DG. The problem is the no DG riverside, first or not, rarely sound good, and sometimes sound awful (380, 383 for example). Anyway, If you have at the top back the two references " RLP 382" and "RS 9382" left and right, then its a reissue, DG or not. -
Today : Lee Morgan "Search for the new land" Blue Note 4169, NY or. Sonny Stitt "and the New Yorkers" Royal Roost or. DG !! wow ! THE SOUND !!!!
-
why did they change the cover on the reissue ? anyway on th rissue ev'body knows who is "blue train" hey hey...
