  1. Liz Taylor was good looking once? Guy
  2. "I love you Spartacus!" - Tony Curtis "He'll know because I'll tell him." - Jean Simmons Weird -- I totally don't remember him, though it's been a while since I've seen the movie. Back to Star Trek -- I also really enjoyed the episode where Riker was "kidnapped by the Romulans" and woke up 20 years later. Also, the episode where people started vanishing from the Enterprise except for Dr. Crusher (though this one got a little ridiculous near the end). Even the obligatory "Counselor Troi's mom" episode was good for a change. Overall seasons 4 and 3 were terrific, hopefully 5 and 6 won't be too much of a letdown. Guy
  3. The fourth season is my favorite. What did you think of the episode with Jean Simmons? It was damn good, though I kind of got the feeling they were trying to do too much in 45 minutes. Who is Jean Simmons, out of curiosity -- I am not familiar with her. Guy
  4. It's also interesting how few of the top payroll teams are championship contenders, and how many of the bottom teams are good/competitive. Money alone won't buy you wins. Guy
  5. It's too bad it's only appropriate to have these kinds of threads after someone passes away -- Steve deserved to read this while he was still around. Guy
  6. Happy birthday, Jim. Guy
  7. OH SHIT. SEK, you'll be missed.
  8. ham makes you goy
  9. Well, if McGrady is out for the rest of the season and Odom comes back fairly quickly then they have a decent chance of beating Houston for spot #4. (Denver will compete for that spot, as will the Clips if they ever show signs of life.) There's no way they are beating San Antonio in a 7 game series. Guy
  10. Especially since the easy-peasy schedule will end soon. However, they were headed for a 5-8 playoff spot and a 1st round playoff exit before the injury and that will not change. The Suns play the Heat tonight, without Wade. I'll have to go with the Suns, but teams tend to get more careless as winning streaks get longer. Guy
  11. Warm and organic is cool.... the music doesn't have to sound like a rusty metal compactor. Thanks for the recs, guys. Hopefully I will be able to check some of this stuff out over the next few years. Guy
  12. Yeah, and it took humans 100 years to wipe them out. Probably more like 2000 or 3000. Humans have been in China a long time. Guy
  13. I haven't heard any of those. Any particular recommendations? Guy
  14. I have an album by Isotope 217 (Utonian Automatic). Not bad, but that's more of a jazz-rock album. Guy
  15. You know, I have an album by Molvaer (Khmer), and while it's not bad, I would have liked something a little more "substantial". I don't have a good sense of what EAI is so I can't say whether that's what I'm looking for. That said, I was thinking primarily of "techno" (broadly defined -- could include IDM, drum'n'bass, ambient, etc) w/jazz influences. Guy
  16. He was excellent in an XFiles episodes, "Clyde Bruckman's Last Repose". I'm not a big fan of Everybody Loves Raymond, but maybe I will change my mind once I hit 45. Guy
  17. I'm interested in recommendations. My only request is that the music be interesting; otherwise I'm interested in trying a variety of stuff. Guy
  18. They belong to the somewhat pretentiously titled genre "IDM" (intelligent dance music). Wikipedia sez: I have one of their albums, Tri Repetae++. It's excellent.
  19. Jim, have you heard Autechre? Not house music, but you might find it interesting. Guy
  20. I am finishing up season 4 of Star Trek: The Next Generation and will soon move on to season 5. Guy
  21. In the long run you guys are better off. The guy is definitely overrated -- he couldn't get his team into the playoffs even in the eastern conference. Better to start from scratch, and maybe Philly will either get a good replacement or get rid of some bloated contract. There's some talk of the Warriors trading for him -- I hope not! Guy
  22. Hopefully this will convince Apple to get rid of their stupid format. Guy
  23. "Aisha" on Coltrane's Ole and "The Believer" on Coltrane's The Believer
  24. Didn't Bobby H record one of Chick's tunes? ("Windows"?) Guy
