  1. Thanks David, that was a great one. Guy
  2. April 21, 2006:
  3. People on this board are pretty knowledgeable and I learn a lot from reading what they post. Dig through the archives for 2006 and quote/link posts that you found particularly enlightening or interesting here. It would be a nice acknowledgment for those that have contributed. Let's avoid the politics forum so that this thread doesn't turn into a pissing match. Guy
  4. I thought this would be a fun thing to do. Dig through the archives for 2006 and find the funniest (intentionally or unintentionally) posts. Quote or link to them in this thread. Let's keep this good-natured. Guy
  5. How is it pronounced? I always pronounce it MontrROW. Is it pronounced MontROO? I think I will pronounce it MontROOX on principle from now on. Guy
  6. No. As I said, you get to see Jack tortured by the Chinese and tons of product placement for Toyota. Season 2 went down the toilet after the nuclear bomb went off in episode 12. This year they couldn't even hold out until episode 5! Guy

Well, they get to listen to Coltrane live whereas I'm stuck with the bootlegs. Guy
  8. That was a depressing ending. On the plus side Nadia is a babe. Guy
  9. Dallas and Phoenix are both playing at a ridiculously high level right now -- I wonder if they can keep it up. San Antonio is "struggling" to keep up, having won only 4 out of its last 5. Guy
  10. Fantastic! They're really making Cicero out to be quite a worm. Guy
  11. I think this is unlikely: 1) There's been a big shift to internet news on Yahoo! and Google!, which feature similar content to the big newspapers. 2) This pattern has occurred outside the US, where "Democrats" and "Republicans" don't exist. 3) How are the circulation numbers of conservative-oriented newspapers like the New York Post and the Washington Times doing relative to the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal and Washington Post? Guy
  12. From The Economist
  13. What did you guys think of the first episode of season 2? I'm downloading it now -- can't wait to see it! Guy
  14. Did anybody else watch the 10 minute "prequel" to season 6 I just downloaded? I thought it was pretty pointless unless you really need to watch lots of Toyota product placement and Jack being tortured in China. Guy
  15. Well, there's still plenty of time for the season to go down the toilet, but that was excellent. Guy
  16. Filles is better heard in its initial album form than split out of programming order across two boxed sets. If you get the boxes, burn a copy of the original LP. Guy
  17. I'm somewhat reluctant to watch this season -- last season was a big letdown and the incessant twists are getting over the top. But I'll watch at least the first four episodes. If you can only watch one show on Sunday, I'd turn to HBO and watch Rome instead. Guy
  18. I only have two of those, Filles and the Horace. I like Filles better but you can't go wrong with either. Guy
  19. I like this album better than its cousin Forest Flower. My favorite bit is John Handy's long bluesy solo on the first track. Both performances are very intense though I really wonder what the group would have sounded like with Elvin Jones or Tony Williams. Guy

    RIP, Mike. Guy
  21. RIP, Alice. I will give Ptah the El Daoud a spin. Guy
  22. This album is coming out on April 17. Guy
  23. Gerald Ford dead today at the senseless age of 83 ... Guy
  24. Looking forward to hearing this one. Guy
  25. That's silly -- you think singers aren't musicians? Guy
