  1. Yep, straight 40W. Fuck the flow.
  2. I suppose if they’d kept it at two minutes I would have been kind enough to find something redeeming in a goofy way about it.
  3. Best part is that I have no idea who you’re arguing with, or what you’re looking to accomplish, and neither do you. Not going to order from Mosaic anymore? Good. Noted. Though I guess I give you some kind of credit for hanging in an abusive relationship that pissed you off for 15-20 years.
  4. I tried. I really, honestly did.
  5. Simon, I think you're truly missing out on the "self" part of "self loathing". You know, the part that makes it your own without projecting it onto everyone else in an attempt to make it feel like you're not alone? Yeah, that part.
  6. They are different, but not dramatically so. So I guess they are right on par with your average alternate takes.
  7. Weird. Slow Blues is the only track that stood out to me. Well, ok, and the amazing reading of Nature Boy.
  8. Perhaps my Coltrane ear isn’t attuned and dialed in as much as it once was, but 11386 does indeed sound like a Coltrane tune, IMO. If I’m wrong, I’m good with that. Oddly enough, it has somewhat an Africa/Brass feel to it.
  9. That’s cool. I’m glad you’re digging it. The only tune that stood out to me was Slow Blues. He really did some interesting things on that one. I guess I’m just Coltrane’d out. I have his entire Prestige, Atlantic, Pablo, and Impulse! catalogs, as well as his lone Blue Note outing. I’ve heard everything he had to say hundreds, if not thousands, of times over again. It’s almost as though I’ve read the story, seen the movie, and digested all ten seasons of the tv show based on the movie. It’s become a contained and closed chapter in my life.
  10. Listened to the Deluxe Edition this morning. It’s...fine. To appropriate one of the greatest lines I’ve ever read from All Music Guide concerning another artist, “As far as John Coltrane albums go, this is another one”. Thank goodness for streaming, because this is a one and done album for me.
  11. My apologies, brother. I actually did NOT mean to call you out on a semantic level. I should not have replied as I did.
  12. Which begs the question, when DID they hold back? I mean, serious. When? Because those tapes are yet to be released. Whether Ballads was a “commercial concession” is a debate I’ll stay out of, but that album is arguably one of the best the Classic Quartet ever recorded. Bar none. Now, I will humbly concede that if you hit me up for a spur of the moment “top five Coltrane Quartet albums” Ballads likely wouldn’t be mentioned. But it damned sure SHOULD be! It’s funny. They didn’t cut loose on that session, nor did they make any of those tunes their own. But somehow they made them “perfect”. Just. Fucking. Perfect. Along with Crescent (due to it being overshadowed by A Love Supreme in the ‘64 canon), Ballads is THE most overlooked and underappreciated albums that band ever recorded, IMO.
  13. Going to listen to it in the morning. Hopefully without jaded ears.
  14. It’s the new version of the hidden track! Though it’s hard to beat the Nine Inch Nails CD that changed colors according to the temperature for coolness factor.
  15. What? A man can’t have his deck rebuilt?
  16. Still showing as "pre-release" on Apple Music, with only one track playable at the moment. Weird. *edit* Just checked iTunes. The download and streaming versions won't be released until Friday.
  17. The Prius has a hell of a lot more zip than one would expect. It doesn’t wow you all the way to 60mph, but in the 0-30 range it has some imoressive punch.
  18. ??? Is cranberry juice an American thing?
  19. Kind of weird to say, but that is exactly right.
  20. Actually, some of the fastest cars in the world 0-60mph are electric.
  21. I know. I was waiting for him to break out the Germans bombing Pearl Harbor line.
  22. Hope you have a great B-Day, brother!
  23. They farmed this out years ago. It’s been a major disfunction ever since. I suppose if neveronfriday knew this, he’d not have gone on his xenophobic tirade, since American customers have experienced multiple problems with them as well.
  24. Hope it’s a great B-Day, brother!
