  1. I can't fin the YouTube thread but I wanted to post this:
  2. So were there 48 shows altogether? That would mean there are 10 more DETS cds to come.
  3. It looks like they are condensed versions of broadcasts contained in the DETS series.
  4. So I'm waiting for the Pee Wee Russell with Buck Clayton and Prez from the 1958 Festival. I check every week. (seriously).
  5. Happy B'day and many more!!!
  6. I was born to dance.
  7. Where didi you find this notice? When I clicked on Allen's site it says it hasn't been released yet.
  8. Thanks. That was great. How did you come across this clip?
  9. I think I have read most of the Nero Wolfe books. Which ones are recommended as the best?
  10. I've always liked The Big Sleep more than the Long Goodbye even though the plot doesn't quite make sense. The first half of The Long Goodbye is great but the second half strikes me as marking the beginning of Chandler's decline. (I'm one of the few Chandler fans who likes Altman's film version: IMHO it has a much more satisfying ending.
  11. I couldn't find the US set on Amazon. Can someone point me to it? Thanks in advance.
  12. Sun Ra at the Horseshoe! I was there and I've never heard of this record. Pm on the way.
  13. Happy B'day and many more Paps!
  14. I saw him once live and I really enjoyed it, though he did play piano for a couple of numbers and IMHO not very well.

    Bob Dylan corner

I wonder if that radio show is available anywhere in the US.
  16. Even though OTC wasn't planned as part of the original box sets, it is the best looking box IMHO.

    Tribute to Gil

Would there even have been an Lp in '89? I can't remember.

    Tribute to Gil

Stephanie Stein did the liner notes to a Gil Evans band cd called Tribute to Gil (it was done after he left town.) I got a CDR through Amazon but it doesn't include the notes. Does anyone here by any chance have this and could copy them for me. If you're wondering why I didn't get this earlier it's because although I'm an Evans completist I avoided the ghost band. Then I saw them in London once and was really impressed. By then the cds weren't readily available and I didn't care that much. However I recently learned that this cd contained the only recording of the last arrangement Gil did: Robby Robertson's The Moon Struck One. I've never gotten a CDR from Amazon before and almost didn't notice that it was one. The front and back of the insert look like what I presume the original did but the inside of the insert is just an ad for more Soulnote records. I only learned that there should be liner notes when I was looking for information on AMG.
  19. There's about a dozen cuts from the Smile sessions on the "Good Vibrations" box set. Though I never bothered to do it I always thought that you could make your own "original" version using those cuts with the new version as a guide. Notice the difference between Mike Love's lyrics to "Good Vibrations" and those that Brian seems to prefer. The only time I saw the Beach Boys live was when they were touring in support of "Holland". No Brian, but Blondie Chapman, 'The Captain (sans Tennile) and an extra drummer as well as several other musicians. A great show but but Mike Love acted like a jerk.
  20. BTW I don't think the notes answer this question: What was the first record (single, 10 inch or 12 inch) on which the group was called The Modern Jazz Quartet?
  21. NY Yankees 1956-61. Now I'm for anyone but.
  22. Joe Farrell Follow Your Heart The Essential John McLaughlin Columbia on a local show (KCBX San Louis Obispo) called "Freedom Jazz Dance".
  23. I did it because it was easy and free and so far have just found it to be a pain in the ass. Adds an extra step before you download to your computer and never found a reason to use it on other devices.
