  1. Here are a couple other good ones: Pyrat XO Pyrat Cask 23 HC Reserva Almost bought a bottle of Brithish Navy Pusser's Rum, as it was recommended to me. Passed on it and got Glen Garioch Highland 10 year old single malt scotch instead. Yummmmmmmmmy, baby!!
  2. Blakey..Indestructable Blakey...Moanin'
  3. Why the stereo 'Go' as distinct from the mono? He's got the mono already.
  4. 1. SONY owns the SACD technology? Correct? 2. If so, how long does the ownership last? 3. Does SONY subsidize the issuing of SACD's by other labels? 4. Does SONY subsidize the installing/purchasing of DSD equipment? 5. Has there been a decrease or increase in the manufacturing of entry level SACD players?
  5. What state eats the most Spam, per capita? Hawaii...the Spam capitol of the USA. Why is that?
  6. Anthony Pearson strikes again... Wesbed...you could always start buying LP's again. No one says you have to play them. You'd have the nice covers, readable liner notes and you could fondle the vinyl 'till your hearts content. I could also give you a list of dead silent LP's, since you do not miss that aspect of the vinyl format.
  7. I look at it as using a higher sampling rate... A quick search found this simple explanation: The CD uses 16 bit PCM recording technology at a 44.1KHz sampling rate. The frequency response of the CD is limited to 22.05KHz and its dynamic range is limited to 96dB. The SACD format is based on DSD-recording-technology, which uses 1-bit delta-sigma modulation and a sampling frequency that is 64 times higher than that of the CD. This enables the SACD format to offer a frequency response of 100KHz and a dynamic range of 120 dB across the audible range that allows for true reproduction of original source material without the omission of any naturally occurring sounds.
  8. To get the top prices it really helps to be a popular seller. Buyers feel safe. Build a good reputation with cheaper LP's first. Ebay is pretty cool once you get the hang of it. It's amazing what a small world this has become. I recently sold a few LP's. They went to about 10 different countries.... Any jazz, vinyl loving friends/acquantences in Japan or Germany? If so, when the time comes, put the word out.
  9. Wolff, any idea how much would a very clean copy of Basra mono vinyl fetch? Might soon have to start thinking of selling some of the albums I have. Super clean, NY USA with ear...I'd try to get $200. It's one the rarest or most sought after NY USA. Any mono with the ear gets the biggerst bucks, if close to mint or you are a seller with a following. If you have any Q's regarding Ebay, LMK.
  10. Nice to see some heavy support of new vinyl. The Waits interests me. I really like music and sound of Mule Variations. Enjoy the Parlan set, also!! Did you get the Hodges?
  11. I've always thought the real advantages of SACD would show up in performances recorded in DSD. Like what the Eighty Eights label is doing.
  12. Well, no longer on the 'stealth' list. 'Runsgood' has it in his crosshairs. When this nice guy wants something BN/Mosaic he usually gets it. If any of you have a mono Basra or stereo GO let him know, he's looking for them.
  13. I may have to give this a try.
  14. Steffi Graf got robbed. She could so kick Schumacher's ass. Claudia Schiffer is pretty sporty. Why wasn't she on the list?
  15. For Hawkins ballads in my collection I turn to Good Old Broadway(Prestige/Moodsville) on a very regular basis. Sublime!
  16. No wonder!! Used do a lot of mail order with those guys before Ebay. Since I do not like the few remaining used vinyl stores in my area I do not have a problem with impulsive buying. Last couple years I've done 2 or 3 big buys from Red Trumpet after selling off a couple arm loads of LP's to help defray the cost of mostly $25-30 LP's. Works for me.
  17. Usually, I only listen to burns in the car or via computer CDP , but lately I've been listening to quite a few on my main system. Most of the detail, tone, warmth and musicality of the LP. Just a bit less dynamic range and forward presence. Very, very nice!! From the tt to my old tube pre-amp to the Denon CDR W-1500 and that's it. I sure have gotten my monies worth out of this Denon CDR. Side note: Is anyone as pissed as I am that SACD players have been programmed to not output the DSD signal(if that's what you call it)? One of the main reasons I do not have SACD player.
  18. Here are Ebay prices over last few months. You can figure out an average price. JOHNNY HODGES MOSAIC LP BOX $149 $154 $133 $175 $113 $306 $137 $76 GBP 68 I love the set.
  19. The seller forgot to mention one thing...MOSAIC!! It will probably at a good price since I got the word out. Maybe, I'm the dumbass...
  20. No..keep guessing.
