  1. I have all of one original with a cool laminated cover that I bought used, long after it had been released. Got rid of 2 originals that had plain covers. Second pressings were probably Trident logo reissues, but I do not know about their covers. Possibly, totally different. The other cool laminated covers are some of the Bluesville, Moodsville and Swingville covers. I know the Moodsville's and Swingville's came plain, also. At least all my OJC/New Jazz titles have glossy covers.
  2. Thanks. Since this involves vinyl I'll post it here. Sold a guy(not from here) an LP for $10. Got an e-mail that said, This is not any kind of "Gold Master Disc" as you advertised.....this is the regular old Warner Brothers pressing, I aready have copy of this pressing. I will be sending you this copy back and please send my money back. My ad said, Dire Straits: Love Over Gold Masterdisk... I wrote back, Where did I say "Gold Master Disc". The title of the LP is Love Over Gold and Masterdisk did the mastering. He wrote, You have totally mislead me with this ad. If you are welching and misleading let me know now so I don't waste two more dollars shipping you back a regular old pressing which I already have a copy of. I wrote, BTW what's a "Gold Master Disc"(aren't they CD's?) of the LP 'Love Over Gold"? Just curious... He wrote, I have no idea I thought you were selling some "Audiophile" copy of this album...Are you going to return my money or not? BTW What is DEAD WAX? Never heard of it don't know where it is and can't find "MasterDisc" any where on the album...or are we just going to play email games? Soon after this I called him. I had to get to the bottom of this. I explained that people buying this LP, look for Masterdisk and RL in the dead wax. And, that people selling this LP and many others mention Masterdisk when appropriate. He had no idea what I was talking about and was still claiming he could not find Masterdisk in the dead wax. I kept asking him why he thought he was getting a 'Gold Master Disc'. I also asked him what a 'Gold Master Disc' was. And I asked, why he thought I was selling him a 'Gold Master Disc' of the LP 'Love Over Gold'. He had a lot of trouble answering these questions. Right around this point he said , "I probably screwed up, but I do not see 'Masterdisk' anywhere. I said, "Yes, and I understand how you screwed up, but what does it have to do with me? And, the way you talked to me was total bullshit." In a very defeated, beaten down way he said "you win'. But I could tell he was still not taking resposibility, as he could still not find Masterdisk in the dead wax with his pilot's 20/20 vision that gets checked every 6 months, so I just let it go at that. Told him to get some some sleep and look for Masterdisk in the morning. Will I hear from him again? I'm guessing no. Should I refund his money if he still wants it back? If he quits 'playing me' I'll refund. If he still acts like a jerk, no way.
  3. Well, crap! I was hoping you would not like the 33 1/3 Mosaics, so we might see them FS. Porcy, may be the one to ask about comparing the two. He has/had a bunch of CD sets and is buying up their vinyl counterparts. Another thing about Mosaic vinyl is/was the quality of the pressings. Very consistantly quiet and flat with centered spindle holes. The 180 gram Q LP's are top of the heap, also. I'm with Brownie. Everytime I pull out a set I lament the fact they are pretty much history. When dreaming, I wish for a 30-50 LP set of Blue Note's greatest hits.
  4. Good deal!! I was watching this auction and had a feeling it was going to go low. 0 bids with 12 hours left.
  5. You need 2 bank accounts and seperate e-mails. You can ellect to have a linked Paypal account on Ebay.
  6. Thanks. That explains what I've been running into lately. I have 2 Paypal accounts. The one I try to use is the standard account that charges zero fees for receiving funds, but does not accept cc's. Only funds from your Paypal or bank account. In the EU, Asia, etc., the bank account option is not available to buyers.
  7. hijack on..... I must mention the best sounding digital issues of BN's I've heard to date. I have had the opportunity, and good fortune, to listen to these on my home stereo quite regularly, recently. Everything missing(and, as the case may be, present) musically and sonically in RVG's is present or absent on these wonderful re-issues of classic BN titles. The other nice thing is you too can have them. All you need is an RVG mastered LP from the 50's/60's, a good turntable/arm/cartridge, a good phono stage/pre-amp, some IC's, a good quality CDR and some blank CD's. I'm absolutely overjoyed at the pleasure these deliver compared to the RVG's and Conn's I have. If the public domain labels wise up to this everyone will be able to have these. jack-off
  8. Elvin Jones: Poly-Currents (Blue Note) Nice music with warm, natural sound. The flute and Bari are to die for. Maybe, a fellow board member will not be getting this one.
  9. I guess Chuck did not see this one.
  10. When you send payment to USA, can you use $$ from your Paypal/bank accounts or do you always have to use a credit card?
  11. I have about 20-25 domestic RVG's. I would avoid Charlie Rouse: Bossa Nova Bachanal.
  12. Ah, burning a copy is a good idea. I still like the invisible ink idea, too. I'll have to check it out. Once the value gets up over $100 I can see the trouble being worth it. We bitch about sellers all the time, but they/we run into problems, too.
  13. His FB looks perfect. No real proof. It was just my first thought and it could be my imagination.
  14. The one thing that's been bothering me a bit when I sell stuff, is 'switching and returning'. I guarantee satisfaction. I could have sworn the LP I sent this guy was as described, but he said there were problems other that what was described. When I get the LP back there are flaws I could have sworn were not there. I just can't can't be sure. Seems to only happen with the pricier stuff. Time for invisible ink???
  15. It's on the back of the jacket. Golson: Gettin With It (New Jazz)
  16. It's a stamp on the back of an LP from early 60's.
  17. Aaron Neville: Warm Your Heart UK LP Billie: Body and Soul MFSL Miles: Modern Jazz Giants original..this LP takes me to another time and place. Garland: At the Prelude original
  18. Nice!! The Dark Side has got a foot hold.
  19. Ella and Louis Again..Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs double LP Cat Stevens Tea For the Tillerman ....MFSL P J Harvey Dry UK LP
  20. Haydn: String trio in G, Op. 53 No.1 Faure: Dolly Suite for piano duet Op. 56 (the dynamics push my systen to the limit) Brahms: Two songs for Contralto, piano and viola Saint-Saens: Russian airs for flute, oboe, clarinet and piano Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center
  21. Yes, the BIN. Maybe he meant to put $25, which is what it goes for. Uninformed sellers often list the address on the back cover(W. 61st..) like it was address on label.
  22. LMAO at this one....Don Cherry
  23. I'm batting about 7 for 24.
  24. Man, a lot of the cases arrive damaged from BMG. I've sent away for the replacements they mention, but forgot to say I needed them with the clear spine section, like the RVG cases. Guess I'll write again requesting them.
  25. in the Record collector's price guide books it for 80 UK pounds, but I've seen it offered for at least the double. The seller must be pleased!!!!
