  1. By my quick calculations you saved around $700 based on the average Ebay price, since I've been keeping a log. WTG!!! Now......... Get the turntable off the floor!!!
  2. It would be fun to 'cherry pick' the collection.
  3. Nice! Monk's Music is the title that may get me to spring for one of the 45rpm's.
  4. My cheap, 1 1/2 year old, $90 DVDP pretty much quit working. It was stopping half way through most movies. Went to place of purchase and they said it could be getting too hot. Another owner had installed a little fan and it fixed the problem. I had noticed how my DVD's came out very warm, so this sounded like a good idea. Took the cover off and cleaned laser. Left the cover off and it has worked great since. I'll see about putting a little fan in it later. Or, I may just modify the cover to give the laser some air. Do better DVDP's have fans?
  5. The OJC LP. Can trade for, or buy.

  7. First time I heard OLAP I thought, "lousy stereo recording, with the drums both left and right". Listened for another minute and realized it was 2 drummers. And Ed, tell us how you really feel.
  8. The weak link is probably a tie between amp and speakers. Hard to say for sure without hearing/knowing your components. No need to upgrade anything else until those two are handled. A low end tube integrated amp with phono stage(how many LP's do you have?) would be an excellent place to get rid of $750. And some quality stand mounted speakers like b3-er's, or some small floorstanders would be another. If you need a great 70 wpc amp, LMK. Are you comfortable buying used? I like the way you are doing it one component at a time. It will work great financially and when you add a component you'll be able to hear the difference and return it if it does not work for you. BTW...the CDP's sound may improve over the next few weeks.
  9. Anthony Williams: Spring Great BN sound on this original. Fiesta in Hi-Fi.... Mercury Living Presence original from late 50's, early 60's. I think it's laughable and a shame they can't get LP's/CD's to sound as good 40 years later. Call me, dumbfounded. I need some Scotch..... How are the Speakers Corner reissues?
  10. You can also get the 'made in Japan' set for $100+.
  11. I'm in more of a 'meat and potatoes' mood than Leeway. Shelly Manne: Live At The Manne-hole(Contemporary 2LP Mono) Blue Mitchell: Down With It! Love the sound of trumpet and sax on this one. Play it loud and if you don't start dancing you are dead or you have a bad back.
  12. Yes, I know of him. He posts here, too. Never tried one of his cigars. Brownie, is another cigar fan. He even has his own mule that takes trips to Cuba.
  13. Do not really know which it is. I did not take picture and can't make out the band. It does look like a Monte #2.
  14. Very nice, actually. No complaints from me.
  15. Ebay UK had a bunch of LP sets a short time ago. Look familiar, Porcy? MR10-141: ART BLAKEY COMPLETE BLUE NOTE 1960. £138

  17. Crap, you are right. I was thinking of The Song Of Singing, and even that may not have been mastered by RVG, originally.
  18. Thanks y'all!! I am curious to hear Addey's remastering work in comparison to original LP's or RVG/McMaster reissues. From the list, Corea's Now He Sings...looks like a possibility. It says Addey was digital engineer, but nothing about remastering.
  19. Have a few sides from the Mulligan/Baker LP set spinning now. The Tristano, Konitz and Marsh has also seen a lot of the business end of a stylus recently.
  20. Posted this question on another thread with little response. Can you name a few BN titles that Addey has done, and any other info so I can get the correct reissue? Looking for titles from 1500, 4000 and 4100 series. I've searched and have found none. Thanks!!
  21. Ronnie Mathews: Roots, Branches and Dances (Bee Hive) Red Rodney: 1957 (Classic records test pressing) Coltrane: Lush Life (DCC reissue) Duke Pearson: Tender Feelins' (Japan Toshiba)
  22. LMAO...Maybe, that's not such a good idea.
  23. 48 hour sale. October 22/23 50% off with no shipping/handling. K4OD16 If I use the 50% off/ no shipping code to buy 6 CD's, will one of the CD's count toward my membership agreement?
  24. Replaying some I did not put away a few days ago.. Miles: Sketches of Spain (Classic Records) Konitz: The Real Konitz (Mosaic set) Hubbard: Breaking Point Mobley: The Turnaround Reading this thread reminds me of all the titles I do not have, but want.
  25. I occassionally am reminded of Columbia House and receiving vinyl from their club. Actually, listening to a CD I just got from BMG at the moment. A nice RVG of Cafe Bohemia Vol 1. My back is killing me so much I can't sit up and listen to LP's, so I'm laying down, flat on my back listening through headphones. I really need to get a back friendly, audiophile approved listening chair.
