Charlie Parker: Complete Savoy Sessions
-
Count Basie...Spanning late 30's to early 60's... Decca/Columbia/Roulette sides.

I have mixed feelings about the recording part. As a producer he's at the top. As a recording engineer, well...... Seeing all the fancy, lastest and greatest solid state gear that hit the studios at this time does nothing for me. Hearing what it produced, does even less. Don't get me wrong, I do repect and admire him. Thing is, when I hear Coltrane's tenor or Aretha's voice on one of those Atlantic's I'm not impressed and yearn for better.

I've got a couple of those. Elvis Costello: All This Useless Beauty Little Village with Ry Cooder and John Hiatt Johnny Clarke: Rockers Time Now Found myself in the "C' section.

Yes, Welcome!! Hope you enjoy your time here as much as I do.

In Paris with Brownie.....A great cigar morning, noon and night. I'm there!! Nothing like poking around in great record collections and full humidors!! What's a 'tabac'?
-
I got no dog in this fight. All I can say is I am very glad to see decent music making headlines. I do not care if it is hype.
-
Mine will be here tomorrow!! I hope. Ellington/Hodges: Side By Side Miles/Coltrane: Play Richard Rodgers

Listened to this and "Say It Loud" a couple times last night. I was dancing all around and thinking, "What incredible bass lines". Need to add some more JB to the shelves!!!

The seller stopped communicating after a while. I contacted the buyers and one of them sent me $60 for postage to UK as the seller disappeared. The other buyer has not responded to numerous e-mails. I guess I'm the new owner of 5 sealed Time/Life sets.

I have no time for Mikey's method, but I use my Nitty Gritty and home made fluids to good effect. Fremer is as anal setting up his tt and I have learned a lot from him.

Coming soon in the vinyl format: Strength Roy Hargrove & The RH Factor Available now: This is Always - The Ballad Session Eden Atwood (Looks like 2 45 rpm LP's)

While you are out shopping for the CD box set, keep an eye out for the vinyl twofer of "Outward Bound' and "Out There" put out by Fantasy in the late 70's, I believe. Superb remastering by someone with the initials 'RVG'. Should not be expensive. I picked mine up at garage sale, as the owner was upgrading to CD's.

USA sends EU non-copy protected CD's. EU sends USA public domain titles. Something ain't right!!
-
I'll have to think about what's been played the most over the last year or two. I know I played these two, too much. Or, I've just moved on. Hodges: Blues A Plenty (Classic Records LP reissue) Dylan: Good As I Been To You Just Bob and his guitar playing me a private concert.

noticed several BN LP's (mostly NY labels) on eBay
wolff replied to Rooster_Ties's topic in Offering and Looking For...
I just got the Ready For Freddie(NY USA) and it was as described, M-. Very, very nice LP for $20. I also took a flyer on the Mode For Joe(NY USA mono) for $10.50, but he forgot to mail it, so I'll have to wait. Almost forgot, thanks for posting link!! -
I really like the job they did on Mother Ship in the Mosaic LP set. I can just enjoy the music without being distracted by what you mention.
-
YEP! Listening to Hendrix 8 LP box set as I burn some to CD.
-
FWIW....I asked a BN guru about Lex/Liberty label sightings and his reply was: Only once, on a Fats Navarro (1531 or 1532) which was a display item at my local record store and later destroyed in a building flood!!

A former neighbor whom I had known for 20 years. I let him stay in my apartment while I was out of town, and he apparently made many trips past my doormen. I didn't know about his problem. BTW he also took about 100 DVDs, but none of my audio or computer equipment. Insured??
