As far as oustanding soloists in every chair I couldn't agree more with you John, but I expect the element of "section sound" (phrase, blend, balance, time feel etc.) would be a bit of a nightmare, especially in the sax, trumpet and rhythm sections- so many individual (and beautiful) concepts of sound don't always combine effectively. The 'bone section would probably work OK. Great list of players, though.

I'm not sure I understand why (if this is really Aric) he's able to keep rejoining the board. Doesn't getting banned mean you can't rejoin from the same IP address? How is he able to keep coming back (if this is really Aric)? Is it easy to do so if you have access to multiple IP addresses, like home/work/friends etc.? I don't really care if he comes back or not (he's actually mildly entertaining, much like summer replacement shows on TV ), I'm just wondering what it means to get "banned".

I remember back (in the 70s) when the Playboy jazz poll All Star band was made up of Paul McCartney (best bassist!!), Edgar Winter (best saxophonist!!), Chuck Mangione (best brass!!), etc. I remember even back then thinking "this is lame". Then I turned back to the pictorials and got back to business.
