That was actually the original title, but they thought it'd negatively impact sales. Some others: There Will Never Fucking Be Another Fucking You Blue Fucking Bossa I Fucking Love You Fucking A, Take The Fucking A Train Yester-fucking-days Don't Fucking Blame Me etc., etc..............

Oh yeah! One of my favorite Woody charts! I've heard Dennis Dotson and Ron Stout play the *#@% out of it! Stapleton was one the best writers for that band IMHO.

Man, I used to be able to get trashed, recover and do it again all in the same day. Them days is over! It takes me a lot longer to recover from a hangover than it used to, and that in itself is incentive to not overdo. If I do anticipate one, I try to drink a lot a water before crashing, as it is the dehydration that gives you the nasty headaches.

"Sunday"? What tune is that? "Come Sunday"? "Never On A Sunday"? If it's the latter, I'm with you! It obviously is a personal issue for each of us, Marty- I still love about half the tunes you listed. We've been down this road before, and I stand by the opinion that it's an issue of the interpretation more than the tune itself. I've heard some performances of very familiar tunes that have been unexpectedly inspiring. Sure, there are well-worn tunes I'll tend to not call at gigs, but I try to give others the benefit of the doubt when they take on one of the "warhorses". Seems like just as soon as I've given up on a tune someone will come along with a great version. For example........

I've always enjoyed his performances, going back to L.A. Law and beyond. He was great on West Wing- they will sorely miss him. LOS ANGELES (AP) — John Spencer, who played a dedicated politico on The West Wing who survived a serious illness to run for vice-president, died of a heart attack today, his publicist said. Spencer, 58, died at a Los Angeles hospital, said publicist Ron Hofmann. He would have been 59 next week. Spencer played Leo McGarry, the chief of staff to President Jeb Bartlet (Martin Sheen) through the first few seasons of the NBC series. In a sad parallel to life, his character suffered a heart attack that forced him to give up his White House job. The character recovered and was picked as a running mate for Democratic presidential contender Matt Santos, played by Jimmy Smits; the campaign has been a central theme this season for the drama. Spencer, who also starred on L.A. Law as attorney Tommy Mullaney, received an Emmy Award for his performance on The West Wing in 2002 and was nominated four other times for the drama. The actor mirrored his character in several ways: both were recovering alcoholics and both, Spencer once said, were driven. “Like Leo, I’ve always been a workaholic, too,” he told The Associated Press in a 2000 interview. “Through good times and bad, acting has been my escape, my joy, my nourishment. The drug for me, even better than alcohol, was acting.” Spencer grew up in Paterson, N.J., the son of blue-collar parents. With his enrolment at the Professional Children’s School in Manhattan, he was sharing classes with the likes of Liza Minnelli and budding violinist Pinchas Zukerman. As a teenager, Spencer landed a recurring role on The Patty Duke Show as the boyfriend of English twin Cathy. Stage and film work followed. Then his big break: playing Harrison Ford’s detective sidekick in the 1990 courtroom thriller Presumed Innocent. That role led to his hiring for the final four years of L.A. Law.

I'm curious about this one. It's gotten some pretty good reviews. I've played with that band and know that Jeff Lindberg and Charles Harrison are very good at transcribing from recordings. How'd they do on this one? Transcribing Gil is a whole 'nother thing AFAIC. Does this live up to the hype? I love Clark, does he seem to be comfortable with the music?

Funny you mention him, I just bought the Superfly soundtrack, and it is absolutely killin'.

I read on another thread that if you can be patient it will probably show up at yourmusic.com for cheap.

I'm almost embarrassed to admit that I've only just now moved into the "90s" and embraced this particular aspect of technology. And I'm lovin' it. I held out a long time on converting to the computer notation thing, mostly because I felt it created an anonymous aspect to the music- I've always enjoyed doing scores and parts by hand, and also associating specific manuscript styles with writers (and their copyists, I guess). Recently I've come into in a situation where I need to be fairly productive in a short period of time, so I've finally converted to the Sibelius program that's been sitting idle on my computer for quite awhile. And it was no big deal! I had a student (they've grown up with this stuff) come over to tutor me a bit, and I was surprised that it was not at all difficult to learn, although I do hit a few walls every now and then. This conversion made sense for me because I change my mind frequently over the course of a chart and the editing process makes this very simple, plus it's very helpful to be able to hear what you write before you commit it to the parts. I should mention that I do mostly big band arrangements and compositions, and if I never have to hand-copy another friggin' part, well, I might be okay with that! I think there's a lot to discuss regarding this topic. What's the consensus about Finale vs. Sibelius? I chose Sibelius because fellow arrangers said it was much quicker to learn, although Finale is really the industry standard. A lot of people also use something called Encore. Discuss. :rsmile:

One more thing, as long as you're there in the future- does the trombone ever become a hip, in-demand instrument? Ever? Even a little bit?

Could somebody please go into the future and tell me when the Cellar Door is actually released? Thank you.

Question: I ordered the 3CD 2004 live tour but by mistake they sent me the 2CD 2005 live tour (the one with all the Trane tunes). Now this is a good one too, but how do they compare? I could just keep this one (although the other was a better value because of the 3rd disc) or I can return it and re-order the other one. If they're both really burnin' I'll go ahead and spring for both. Well?
