  1. I caved and ordered the Basie. I knew I would eventually, but thought I'd try and wait a bit, you know, a little self-discipline. My resistance was futile.
  2. Maybe my favorite Cannonball.
  3. Poor Uno- he must not have understood when they said "It's time to wok the dog".
  4. Happy Birthday!
  5. Little Ricky Booker Little Walter Booker
  6. THE SLIDE RULES !!! Happy Birthday!
  7. My guess is: a lot of wild stuff will happen, Jack won't even get a nap or a shave, he'll kick everyone's ass, kill the bad guy(s) and save the world. Just a guess, I could be wrong. They should have one season happen over the daylight-savings time change. That would be what, 23 or 25, depending. I knew from the way they showed Dennis Haysbert's name in the credits (it was "special appearance" or something like that) he was going to get killed early on. I guess that State Farm bread must be righteous. Michelle was a surprise, though. Tony's quite a resilient fellow, isn't he? After that "fire bath" he didn't look all that bad. And I hope Jack doesn't have to drag this kid around the whole time. He'll be the "new Kim", you know, needing "rescued" at every turn.
  8. Very interesting. I'm assuming your compilation includes all appearances, sideman as well as leader dates. One thing that's interesting is that, for example, Herbie's number on your list is 464, which is WAY up from the number I got from CDUniverse (125), whereas the number for Bill Evans is almost exactly the same as the CDUniverse number (240 compared to 237). Not sure why that is. Thanks for providing this info EKE! I'm sure your source is much more accurate than my quick check of CDUniverse.
  9. Lift me, won't you lift me above the old routine Make it nice, play it clean, Jazzman When the Jazzman's testifyin' A faithless man believes He can sing you into paradise Or bring you to your knees It's a gospel kind of feelin' A touch of Georgia slide A song of pure revival And a style that's sanctified Jazzman, take my blues away Make my pain the same as yours With every change you play Jazzman, oh, Jazzman When the Jazzman's signifyin' And the band is windin' low It's the late night side of morning In the darkness of his soul He can fill a room with sadness As he fills his horn with tears He can cry like a fallen angel When risin' time is near Jazzman, take my blues away Make my pain the same as yours With every change you play Oh, lift me, won't you lift me with every turnaround Play it sweetly, take me down, oh, Jazzman
  10. THAT was sure a rollercoaster ride. Wow! edit....and now let's see what the Bears can do............

  15. Time for a new bank perhaps? Sounds like a little too much "bang for your buck".
  16. Well, that would be my vote. I don't feel like the Trane is too "far out" at all. IMHO it's very accessible and very, very good. I listen to that and it reaffirms my awe of the man. Same for the Miles. I have a limited tolerance for really out stuff and I really love both in the sense that I will continue to pull them out repeatedly. Both are great examples of music at a very high level. I'll be curious to hear what you think GA!
  17. Every now and then I play with a certain lead trumpeter who fancies himself a screamer but in reality is not very happening. He has been awarded the nickname of "Can't Anderson".
  18. Meg Ryan Ryan O'Neal Neil Armstrong
  19. A quick check at CDUniverse reveals: (no. of CDs credited to artist) Bill Evans 237 Oscar Peterson 222 Keith Jarrett 138 Herbie Hancock 125 Chick Corea 125 A very unofficial survey for sure.
  20. The only one who might be close that I can think of is OP.
  21. Don't forget the sequel!
  22. I should have included Use3D in my initial post. Thanks to you too man! I see Alison has now established her own online persona- "ophelia". Welcome Alison! I hope we're around long enough to start reading Zora's posts.
  23. Wow, that was a trip down memory lane. I was still just a lurker when all that went down. Musicboy was (and I'm sure continues to be) a real dweeb. Glad to see Dan Gould has mellowed from those days. Say, as long as there's no big problem with derailing this particular thread, what was the outcome of the whole Mnytime saga? I've forgotten what happened.
