  1. I think he meant "in dog years".
  2. It really is kind of "Geezer-issimo" here isn't it? You mean "near death"? Probably. Oops! I forgot to have kids!
  3. I love the Jazz Casual and Jazz Scene USA DVDs. The JS*USA* Rosolino segment is outstanding. Also love the JC Woody segments (3 of them) and the Thad/Mel segment. And the Cannonball. And the JOS. And the Sonny/Jim Hall. Etc.,etc.,etc. A few other favorites: Mingus Live At Montreaux 1975 Jazz On A Summer's Day Monk Straight No Chaser Calle 54 Diana Krall Live In Paris (even if you're not a big Krall fan it's hard to resist the great production of this video. Hamilton's drums and Clayton's bass are recorded beautifully)
  4. This is me when the Cellar Door box finally comes out.
  5. I think it's a very cool feature. I've had several nice hangs in there. Although it does make public my weak typing skills.
  6. You can say that again.
  7. Sure it counts, it's just in that category of "useful" gifts like socks and underwear.
  8. Bill Hicks John Hicks Bix Beiderbecke
  9. Texas is spanking Colorado pretty good (42-3,and that's just the first half). I hope they get to play USC for the national title. I think that might be a fun game to watch.
  10. Rooster's post is a response to a post of mine that I deleted. Please don't think he's lost his mind.
  11. What a silly solution. When the orchestra goes deep into the red and folds there will no longer be a problem with hearing loss. Work loss will then be at the top of the list. Although the idea of having to hire twelve trombones instead of three has got to appeal to the local dinosaur-riders. I hate playing with earplugs, but that is the obvious solution, much more logical than hiring so many extras. Sometimes these orchestral cats need to get over their bad selves.
  12. I couldn't quite spring for this set, mostly because I can't spend the $$, but the discussion/samples piqued my interest enough to order 3 of the Collector's Choice doubles from my latest Amazon indie-du-jour, alphacraze (caiman's quality has declined a bit lately). About 30 bucks for the lot. That'll be good enough for me. And you guys will still get the satisfaction of once again causing me to spend more money.
  13. Funny, I read the title and thought it was more of an abstract question, like you were wondering how the NKC trio "fits" (in the musical sense) in the overall Mosaic/musical universe. I'm sorry I can't help with the real question.

  15. Sleeper. This is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. Especially when the doctors are shocked that his character won't eat deep fried fat. Guy And when they find the VW bug and it starts right up.
  16. Thanks man. Let's go for it! "Less Paul is better for all"
  17. I'm not sure if this is included in any other compilation already mentioned, but I've always enjoyed this one. "Cabin Fever" -some solo tapes, pretty decent quality
  18. MC Hammer Y.A. Tittle Stuart Little
  19. Congrats, catesta! I've been going to the gym faithfully and am now down about 15 pounds (in two months). I've still got quite a way to go, but this is encouraging and I am going to stick with it. I haven't been on any extreme diet but have cut back portions and am not eating any fast food or drinking any pop. I haven't given up alcohol but have cut back there too. It really hasn't been that hard and I'm someone who doesn't like changing habits. My strategy is to make this a permanent change, not just 'til I lose weight, but for life. My favorite gym machine is the elliptical trainer, the one where you are in a running motion, arms pumping. It burns calories at a much higher rate than the treadmill and is very low-impact on the knees. I had been doing a half-hour on it every day (which amounts to about 550 calories) but felt I could go longer and am now doing an hour every day (1100 calories! Yippee!). Some days I really have do drag my ass to the gym, but I'm doing it. I'm inspired by others who are doing the same! Good luck all!
  20. Really, we're ALL band people, now aren't we?
  21. My "best": Tip:$100 (for the quintet) Request: "Baby Elephant Walk" Performance: Tune unreconizable after first 12 bars (it's actually a blues with a bridge, like "Locomotion", the only difference being that it's stupid). The band "took it out". Way out. Tipper: Somewhat mystified but came through with the $$ anyway Henry Mancini: Sorry, Hank
  22. The Woody Shaw CDs are sure great though..........
  23. That Trilok is such a nut! He sure swings his ass off though! I tend to avoid jazz musicians myself, but mostly because they always want to borrow money. Plus they tend to smell funny, like chicken soup or onions, you know. Just kidding, ben, I do get your point.
  24. Of course, we all know "quaters never prosper".
  25. Avery Schreiber Jack Burns Don Knotts
