  3. I always thought it was "wussy" (combination of wimp/pussy), the plural being "wussies". Judges?
  4. Wow! Looks like an explosion at the Scrabble factory.

I think the other KC guys are probably more familiar with him than I am, I'm still relatively new to KC. I've only heard him a couple times and he sounded very good. I don't know much more about him, sorry.
  6. Berigan, the extreme graphics on your avatar/signature are givin' me the heebie-jeebies. It's even worse than when Chuck listens to Cannonball!!
  7. Happy birthday! You two have a whopping 2 posts between you! And yet you were compelled to share your birthdates, so your anonymity has been compromised! Did you think we would not notice?? Don't be strangers, jump right in, the water's freezing!
  8. Did you order the life-size inflatable version or the dashboard bobble-head?
  9. So will there be a sudden death overtime?
  10. The story of a jazz musician's strange, erotic journey from Milan to Minsk.
  11. Yes, I've heard the audio from that gig and it's very good. I hope it comes out soon.

  13. Wow, everything showed up within about a one hour period! From Mosaic (Basie), from the Bastids (Chet Baker Koln concert, Miles Den Haag concert) and from BMG (Lou Rawls Live). Lots of listening to do!
  14. Thanks GA- I do have several recordings of the tune, I'm just curious if anyone has heard one with what might be a verse.
  15. I'm not sure what the answer to that is. Where the hell is Mike Fitzgerald?
  16. Wow, that's like what a jazz gig pays. I've got subpoenas envy.
  17. The verse is an overlooked aspect of the jazz standard IMHO. Remember when Dick Oatts and Gary Dial did a recording featuring rarely-played verses to standard tunes? There are verses to familiar tunes like All The Things You Are, and of course the great verse that precedes Stardust. I haven't found a definitive source to list these hidden treasures, so I thought this would be a good place to start; maybe folks could list some of their favorites and maybe some of which we might not have been aware. Here's the question that motivated me to start this thread: Is anyone aware of there being a verse to the Johnny Mandel tune Emily? I haven't been able to find out. If so, can you recommend a recording I could check out? Thank you in advance.
  18. Are they still together? For some reason I thought I'd heard that they split up.
  19. Larry Klein. He went on to produce several projects for Joni Mitchell.
  20. I have a whole box of duplicates, copies of CDs that I've repurchased in RVG form, new reissues, etc. I frequently give these away to students/friends, if it's something they want or something I want them to hear. When I started out with jazz, friends gave/lent me stuff to listen to, and that meant a lot to me. I feel like I'm continuing a tradition, like it's good karma. Nothing quite like giving a young jazz fan their first copy of KOB (or whatever). If someone with whom I have a reasonable level of trust asks to borrow something, I will let them. If they keep it or lose it, that's just life. No big deal, it's just "stuff". If I ever borrow something I assume total responsibility for it- I've replaced cracked jewel cases etc. I don't borrow very much- I can barely keep up with my own purchases! That being said, some of the more valuable items don't leave the house- Mosiacs, rare items etc. I don't even like taking the Mosaics out of the house myself- the boxes show wear quickly.
  21. I like Superblue a lot. Definitely a pearl in the midst of many very commercial offerings. With Joe Henderson, Kenny Barron, Jack DeJohnette, Hubert Laws, Ron Carter. Nice tunes, no B.S. The cover, well that's another matter.....
