  1. Chuck, Rooster and Eric: Sounds like a breakfast hang might be in order- Classic Cup on the plaza serves b-fast until 10:30 Saturday AM- maybe we could shoot for 10? Sound like a plan guys?
  2. You should marry that woman!
  3. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family, Conrad. Hang in there, man.
  4. I respect the ears of the audiophiles around here, but AFAIC the music is of such quality on every Mosaic I've chosen to purchase that the audio quality (even that which some consider subpar) doesn't affect my level of appreciation at all. All of my 40+ Mosaics were purchased w/o any concern about who engineered/remastered etc. I don't mean to be disrespectful to those who are more "audiophilistic" (is that even a word?) about such things, but I think it would be a shame to miss out on this great music because of such concerns.
  5. I'm not 100% sure yet, but that will be my best shot.
  6. The Al Cohn was one I ordered that was cancelled, but you can get it HERE for just a little more (still a good deal though).
  7. Classic Cup, baby. It rocks. A Saturday morning breakfast hang would be hapnin'.
  8. My gig is early in the evening, and probably wouldn't be of much interest to you guys- mostly backing up a singer. Perhaps I'll catch up to you at the Blue Room. If someone has a cell number, email it to me. Otherwise, have a good hang fellas! If Chuck brings any copies of the Bird/Diz CD someone please snag me one!
  9. Well, have a safe trip. The weather here has been crazy lately. I'm working Friday night, but I'd love to see y'all. If not, I hope you have a great time.
  10. Milt Jackson Jesse Jackson Jesse Ventura
  11. Yes, but be careful not to mark your pants while in the Park with Mance......!
  12. Mine finally shipped today as well, although two of the CDs I ordered were cancelled. No big deal, although both were new releases and seem to be readily available. I think the membership here put the screws to J&R's sale pretty good!
  13. I remember playing at the Driskill a few times- that's as close as I came to staying there. Very nice and very $$$$.
  14. For some reason that baby photo reminded me of this.
  15. Lon, you're making me homesick for Austin. I loved Fonda San Miguel! I saw Miles and Metheny at the Paramount. I always liked that Capitol building (even if I didn't agree w/what was going on inside ). The Texas Museum looks beautiful. I need to find an excuse to go visit my friends in Austin (it's been awhile since I was there- maybe 7-8 years). Perhaps it's time to lobby for a gig at the Elephant Club..... I need me some Texas BBQ and some good Tex-Mex. Damn. Thanks for posting those great pics!
  16. Sorry for the off-topic, I'll keep it short. You mentioned Claudio- I had the opportunity to play with him recently. He is a warm, sweet person- a real gentleman. Our gig happened to be on his 59th birthday, May 28th. Now about his playing.......he plays a rotary-valve trumpet, which you don't see too often. He has a beautiful warm buttery sound on that axe, and his improvisations are very engaging. They aren't simply a bunch of licks strung together, but consist of beautiful melodic ideas that he develops like a storyteller. Content over technique for me any day (not to imply he is lacking in the latter). His playing truly reflects his personality. Anyway, that was the first time I had the chance to meet him, and I feel very fortunate. I've become much more of a fan than I was before. People should not overlook him. Perhaps Chuck will have a comment or two. Forgive me for the temporary tangent.
  17. Yes, that's it. Sorry for the title mangling. Thanks Hans.
  18. I recently saw a film she did w/Anthony Hopkins called Charring Cross. Very good film. RIP
  19. Mrs. Free For All has two- one on the ankle and one on the lower back. Actually it was totally out of character for her to do this- I was surprised to say the least (she got them both in Santa Fe over a couple summers- that place will do things to your head!). Mid-life craziness I guess. They are very tasteful, although I have no idea who "Butchie" is.
  20. My order of June 1st is still "processing". I'm wondering how much time to give them before I pull the plug. It's not that I'm impatient, it's just that I'm leaving town soon for a week and don't want it sitting on my doorstep for days. I'm hoping it ships soon, 'cause there are some titles I really would like to get on CD. Especially at that price. BTW, what's the diff between and ? Does winky just have higher blood pressure? I call this one "A Fun Visit To Stinky, The Bashful Proctocologist".
  21. Listen well to Lon-Son, grasshopper. He is very wise.
