  1. Beautiful! Understand, though, that humorous oddities lure Erik.
  2. Pats lookin' tough so far! Watch out Saints! Saints have GOT to put pressure on Brady tonight.
  3. I'd hate to be that thirteenth guy right now.
  4. Agg = Deliberately Initiating Controversial taKtics.
  5. Sure hope the NO/NE game lives up to the hype. Geaux Saints! We'll see if they're for real tonight.
  6. Bowden to announce retirement on Tuesday It was time to leave, but it was handled a little awkwardly by the administration IMO.
  7. I think Conn, Agg, Noj, Brooks, and I use it the most (did I miss anyone?) and we haven't been on much lately. What do you guys think? Want to pool some money for Jim or let it go? I for one wouldn't mind keeping it around a bit longer, but only if we can do so without any inconvenience to Jim. I'm due for a board donation anyway.
  8. Who dat say dey gonna beat dem Saints?
  9. ....and suddenly we move to the political arena! Yippee!
  10. Just a quick plug for an old friend: Ryan Shultz (note the correct spelling has no 'c') is an absolute monster musician: strong chops, complete command of modern harmony, loose phrasing that's more saxophone derived than anything else and really fresh post-bop ideas. My apologies, Mark- I fixed the spelling on my post. "complete command of modern harmony"- that's quite an accomplishment! Agreed that he's a monster- any recommended recordings that he's on? I believe this was the trombone section in several jazz bands I've adjudicated over the years.
  11. I think it just implies the trombone-size bore (and resultant tone quality). Although there IS a slide trumpet (see Steve Bernstein).
  12. Chuck? What have you done with Paul?
  13. Is this the same as a bass trumpet? Check out Cy Touff and current Chicago musician Ryan Shultz.
  14. Happy Birthday, John!
  15. 38/38 More of a challenge to my crappy typing skills than the knowledge of the artists.
  16. The Aggies gave the Longhorns all they could handle tonight. If A&M had made that field goal and then attempted an onside kick things could have gotten tense.
  17. See post #1.
  18. Can't start the holidays w/o the good ol' turducken thread, started six years ago to this day!
  19. Vive le difference! BTW, that port-soaked Stilton sounds awesome!
  20. I'm brining & smoking a turkey breast (w/applewood) plus: -green bean casserole (a favorite, although I use cheddar cheese soup instead of mushroom). -garlic mashed potatoes -apple/pecan stuffing (baked outside of the turkey- I use a muffin pan to create individual servings and maximize crispness. I HATE soggy stuffing) -green salad -crescent rolls -blue cheese stuffed olives -chocolate pecan pie -apple crisp Followed by: -football -napping Followed by: -extra time at the gym to work it all off
  21. It's a major leap for me.... Well, I was a little apprehensive at first, but once I did it I haven't had any regrets.
  22. Dig the bent-bell Dizzy-style trombone!
  23. I got rid of my land line about three years ago and haven't missed it one bit.
  24. The CHIEFS beat the STEELERS????? You're kidding me!
