  1. I recently got a Blackberry Storm 2. The first generation Storm I had was pretty lame- bad sound, bad controls. I traded it in after a week and got the Storm 2, which is a MUCH better product. I've been curious about the Droid- I'm wondering what it has over the Storm 2. I agree, vaj, these high tech phones are pretty cool! I really don't even need to take my notebook anymore when I travel.
  2. Then you must have missed the recent Colts/Patriots game! Same thing happened. The ending of the LSU game was a shocker. Seems like I've seen more than the usual amount of clock mismanagement this year, both in college and pros. You've GOT to be ready for those moments. They should have at least run a play.
  3. For that matter, most cell phones take decent quality pics that you can upload.
  4. Oleo is based on "rhythm changes", which is a general term for tunes written over the chord changes to Gershwin's "I Got Rhythm". Bird (as well as many other beboppers) composed many tunes over this progression including Anthropology (aka Thriving from a Riff) and Moose the Mooche. These are often referred to as "contrafacts", meaning tunes written over an existing chord progression. Other non-rhythm change contrafacts from that era are Donna Lee (Back Home in Indiana) Ornithology (How High the Moon) Groovin' High (Whispering) and Half Nelson (Ladybird), to name but a few- there are a ton of 'em. I think we have a thread on contrafacts somewhere around here.
  5. Happy Birthday Bill!
  6. I remember when I was younger reading a bunch of "big little books" that belonged to my dad.
  7. I wouldn't either. Unless the options were win, place or glue.

    Don Cherry

Happy Birthday, Don Cherry! Spinning some '63 Rollins/Cherry/Grimes/Higgins in his honor.
  10. Yeah, the board was down for quite awhile this afternoon. It's working fine for me now, though- not slow at all.
  11. Always great to hear good news! I know this has been of concern to you, Tom, and I'm glad things are OK.
  12. Sample of "Dorian" here Not too bad at all based on this short sample.
  13. SHANE! SHANE! SHANE!
  14. Sorry SS1, but the Browns are S A D.
  15. I'm looking forward to getting this. I played with Dana at the Green Mill in Chicago for a couple years. Great player. Great looking lineup too!
  16. Yeah, Peyton Manning taking the team down the field with short time on the clock is a thing of beauty.
  17. It was a ballsy call and 8-9 times out of 10 they would make it, and Bill would have been a hero the next day. An unfortunate confluence of circumstances with the timing of the two minute warning and the questionable spot of the 4th down attempt and they blew it, and it was a fairly costly mistake looking ahead to the playoffs. I do like to see folks take chances and make it interesting, but I think in this case the decision was ill-advised. In other news, I also think Jones-Drew should have taken it into the end zone. Not his fault- he did as he was instructed by the coach and took a knee , but that was lame IMHO. A couple cases of a lack of faith in the defense.
  18. Or at the very least breathe hard.
  19. Here are a bunch more of 'em Have at it paps!
  20. I was wondering if paps was putting us on...... Edit: It IS pretty cool, though. There is a whole series of these videos.
  21. I like "Al-apalooza".
  22. Wow, what an amazing comeback by the Colts! I was surprised the Pats went for that fourth down, but they had some balls to try. Very exciting game!
  23. Really, you've never heard of the Today show? I'm surprised, it's been around forever.
  24. Wow! It'll be interesting to see if these recordings become available. There will be some legal issues to resolve first I'm sure. Great stuff, I'll have to pick up the book.
