  1. That's right. The material was also included in the Mosaic Randy Weston Select.
  2. I grabbed the album when FreshSound reissued it on vinyl in the 70s. Nice date that has all-Sharon compositions.
  3. The Chicago concert with Django Reinhardt was recorded by John Steiner. The full Django segment was first released on Vol. 13 of the Intégrale Django Reinhardt from Frémeaux & Associés The thoroughly researched liner notes indicate that the November 23 concert at Carnegie Hall was recorded (a portion came out on VDiscs, but not the Django appearance). The Carnegie Hall concerts were disasters for Django who showed up late at the opening concert after he ran into French boxing hero Marcel Cerdan. Django did not play with the orchestra. The tour with Duke was cut short after the incident!

  13. A Select gathering sessions organized by Leonard Feather (and others) for MGM in the fifties would be quite interesting. One that would include albums like: - 'Hot vs. Cool' - 'Dixieland vs. Birdland' - 'Cats vs. Chicks' - 'Hi Fi Suite' - 'West Coast vs. East Coast' - 'Oh Captain' None of those dates has been properly reissued!
  14. The Leonard Feather-Dick Hyman All Stars 'Oh Captain!' (MGM, mono) The All Stars include Art Farmer, Harry Edison, Tony Scott, Coleman Hawkins, Oscar Pettiford, etc...
