The West Coast people have all the luck. This looks might interesting.
Don't miss René Urtreger's appearance. He plays better than ever, looks younger than ever!
And he should be interviewed for reminiscences. He has met and played with all the giants including Lester Young, Miles Davis, Bud Powell and many others.
A fascinating storyteller!
Thanks to Milan's insistence (and Lester's previous recommendation) , I am enjoying this Jo Stafford's compilation
My second album from her (after 'Jo + Jazz')
I have to disagree!
Caiman is just about my sole source for internet purchase of CDs by now. Tried other sources. Caiman is the most reliable.
Like their pricing and their shipping.
I have had no problem with them whatsoever.
'Blues for Donald Duck' on the Montreux Two Arista vinyl is timed at 15m40s.
On the 'Archie Shepp A Massy' double LP 'Blues for Donald Duck' is the opening track (disc 1, side A, 19m50s) and goes on to side B (9m30s).
The album also includes a version of Moncur's 'Hypnosis'.
Kenny Burrell 'Guitar Forms' (Verve, mono)
the cover has a full horizontal sticker reading ' Arranged and conducted by Gil Evans' under the album title.
There was a time once when the name Gil Evans was helping the sale of records
Damn
Norman Mailer was the first american writer I read in english. This was his great war novel 'The Naked and the Dead'.
I remained attached to his writings until a couple of decades ago.
A great writer passed away...
