  1. Denny Zeitlin 'Shining Hour - Live at the Trident' (Columbia, mono) with Charlie Haden and Jerry Granelli
  2. The Zeitlin-Haden collaboration started in 1964 when Zeitlin was working as a doctor in the San Francisco area and Haden was at Synanon. The collaboration produced at least the following albums: 'Carnival' (Columbia) 'Shining Hour' (Columbia) 'Time Remembers One Time Once' (ECM) 'Tidal Wave' (Palo Alto)
  3. Joe Albany 'Portrait of an Artist' (Elektra Musician)
  4. One more box coming soon from the Jazz in Paris series. Looks like it is a 12CD single box reissue of the four DeLuxe sets. Jazz in Paris 1917-1959
  5. Unfortunately not. Was very busy with my work at the time. The passion for jazz was heavily curtailed in those days
  6. Carmell Jones Select, disc 1
  7. not that i've heard these, but isn't Strickland the Abdul Rahim Mustafa on Donald Ayler's Firenze recordings (no idea where i read this so it may be bs) Indeed, Abdul Rahim Mustafa was plain Donald Strickland then! He is on that Donald Ayler concert. From what I remember, he was much more at ease and impressive with Tyler!
  8. I have! They're worth the money spent. But I rate Charles Tyler very high!
  9. Was it worth $99,99?
  10. Anita O'Day 'Once Upon A Summertime' (Glendale, simulated stereo )
  11. Most of the releases in that series are quite new to me. Thanks for the recommendations!
  12. Interesting to see that this Buddy Collette Porgy and Bess session was then reissued as by Pete Jolly and now as by Jim Hall! Plus Lonehill calls this an 'unreleased session'! What do people have against Collette
  13. Hank Mobley 'Hank' (BN/Toshiba, original release) with Kenny Dorham, Sonny Clark, Jimmy Rowser (not George Joyner as credited) and Art Taylor
  14. Good test (wish the map was not so small)... First try. 348,057 points. Level 10. IQ 109.
  15. So England is out of Euro 2008 after losing 3-2 to Croatia. Not really sure they deserved to qualify but am sure that Austria and Switzerland will be glad to be rid of their hooligans!
  16. Ernie Henry has several solos on the JazzUnlimited CD. None is very long, but he is heard doing very nice things on 'Autumn Leaves', 'WhisperNot' and 'Dizzy's Business'.
  17. Always loved the accordion playing of Pete Jolly on the Buddy Collette and the Poll Winnners hard to get album 'Interpretations of Porgy & Bess' that came out on Interlude. The session was reissued on the Lonehill CD 'Jim Hall The Unreleased Sessions'.
  18. PeeWee Russell and Henry Allen 'The College Concert' (Impulse, mono)
  19. Dave 'Fathead' Newman 'Straight Ahead' (Atlantic, mono)
  20. Mais oui! and let the truth be revealed...
  21. I'm not British. Will be enjoying music today like any other day!
  22. Actually, brownie, I think it's just "him", not "them"..... (signed, another aloc supporter) Was aware of that! Just had other obtuse posters in mind
  23. Steve Lacy 'The Flame' (SoulNote) with Bobby Few and Dennis Charles
  24. Go, Aloc, go! Don't let them bother you!
  25. John Coltrane 'The Complete 1961 Village Vanguard Recordings' (Impulse), discs 1 then 2
